Earlier this year Desert Dwellers released their most diverse album in the duo's long career. The Great Mystery was the first full length collaborative project just between the main founders Amani Friend and Treavor Moontribe, and featured a wide range of styles and aesthetics from downtempo and psychedelic dub to tribal trance to exotic house and techno flavors.

To celebrate the special release, Desert Dwellers have curated an ambitious two-part remix album with a total of 25 contributions from some of the brightest luminaries and rising talents across the underground electronic music landscape. The Great Mystery Remixes Part 2 is slated for a November 1st release on the DD Bandcamp page, and features sonic reinterpretations from Emancipator, Aligning Minds, Mumukshu, Sixis, David Starfire, Whitebear, Erothyme, Mystral, Master Minded, Halfred & Enzalla, Lulacruza, Bumble, Soohan, and Supersyllius. With artists from across the globe and musical genres, these carefully crafting renditions of Desert Dwellers' The Great Mystery are a potent combination of immersive soundscapes that pay a loving tribute to the original compositions.

Chicago-based chillout producer, Edamame, delivers his 14-track album, Bask on Gravitas Recordings. The project is a balmy breeze, warping through feelings of absolute bliss and unadulterated serenity. While the compositions embrace an ambient motif, expressive percussion and graceful melodies weave energy throughout. Fans of CloZee, Bonobo, and Random Rab will resonate with this release. 

Setting the tone for the album, “Kishi Kaisei” blends angelic vocals with vivid drums. On “Sable,” Edamame and his Loci Records cohort Tor construct a dreamlike state through atmospheric and hypnotic sounds. The title track “Bask” tides in and out with a soothing bassline, feathered synths, and subtle vocals. “Passim”, which features the illustrious Emancipator, romances the ear drums by way of steelpan, sitar, and rolling percussion that culminates into a sensual outro.

"Cinnamon" is the evolution of Spoq's previous work: Deeply cinematic and emotional melodies meet lush textures and genre transcending beats. It is definitely introverted music inspired by life, people, nature with all its beauty but also it's edges, scratches, scars and conflicts. It is visual art, transformed into melodic adventures. It is a story without dialogue, a film without video. Wolfram Gruss, the writer behind Spoq, used his experience from composing film music to create an album, that has always also images in mind. Although all tracks are purely instrumental, the analogue and synthetic instruments used are highly associative. Throughout the 24 tracks ranging from Trip Hop, Ambient to IDM and Electro, the music is always thought provoking and organically stimulates the imagination of the listener. "Cinnamon" is Spoq's most complete and balanced album so far.

Brought from the dance floor to your listening ears, Equanimous presents his debut album, Merging Elements, via Gravitas Recordings. Merging Elements is a heart centered adventure whose inhabitant exists between bliss and bass. Through 11 artist collaborations that span over nine tracks, prepare to engage in an ecstatic, auditory journey full of rhythmic vibrations, beautiful melodies, and organic sounds. “Arise” with Equanimous and Skysia while they prepare for a meditative voyage into the beautiful sunset. Equanimous and nok nok immediately encounter a series of rhythmic, vocal percussion in “Bumpin Bass Beatbox.” Equanimous recruits Auralponic for “Tahini Kiatsu” as dreamy keys meet an expressive, bassy spirit with a hint of glitch. AHEE is the next companion when the duo encounters an “Air Bender,” who greets them with cinematic instrumentals that alter between dreamy and high-powered. Hohm and Equanimous are soon escorted to meet the “Saviour,” travelling down a passage of soothing bells and oscillation. “Echoes” are rebounded as Equanimous and ZANDRO face a shadowy, unknown opponent of mysterious origins. Equanimous and Oliwa enlist ethereal singer Ruby Chase for a celestial sailing to the sky as she reminds them to keep their “Head Up High.” Equanimous and his alternate musical alias, Bliss Looper, experience euphoric “Dreamality” as angelic vocalist Cyndy Fike enters the stage. Geometrae joins for the concluding title track, exploring worldly and organic musical territories that achieves true equanimity.

Equanimous & Skysia - Arise [Stereofox Premiere]

Spoq is an electronic music project created by songwriter and composer Wolfram Gruss. Since 2014, Spoq has released a vast collection of engaging, intelligent, and experimental tracks. The project is at home in various genres, such as Downtempo, Lofi-Hiphop, Garage, Wave, Ambient, and IDM, but also ventures into new forms of sonic expression. The music is often cinematic and thought-provoking, blending acoustic and classical instruments and melodies with massive beats, crisp electronic percussion, deep synthetic basslines, and atmospheres. Wolfram frequently uses sampled found noises, which he processes into instruments, adding a unique organic feel to the compositions.


However, the project's primary objective is to evoke contrasting emotions. The tracks are complex, both in their sonic depth and dramatic storytelling. Spoq knows like view others power of subtelties to send his audience on an emotional rollercoaster. The music can seamlessly move from a calm and comfortable state to an outburst of surprising happiness or the darkest, saddest moods within one single track. Although Spoq's music may appear sweet, it has a biting edge that makes it an exceptional listening experience.


Wolfram Gruss, the creative mind behind Spoq, resides in Aschaffenburg, Germany, and works full-time as a composer and sound designer for film, documentary, advertisement, interactive and live media. In addition, he releases his own tracks on independent and major labels.
