Premiere: Matthias Meyer - Bits The Dust [Strangely Enough]

Sebo K returns to Phil Weeks’ Robsoul Recordings later this week (Friday 28th October) with his ‘Magie Noire’ three-tracker. We’ve got the exclusive premiere of ‘Honeybee’ from it above.

The last 12 months has seen a blossoming relationship between the Berlin based producer and Weeks’ Parisian label. Having started with his impressive ‘Catalyst’ EP at the tail end of 2015, Sebo then delivered more heat at the controls of the Robsoul Edits collection at the turn of the year (see his ‘Player’s Theme’ edit if you missed out).

All three-tracks on ‘Magie Noire’ stand up to the quality of Sebo’s Robsoul output, but we cherry-picked ‘Honeybee’ for its glorious rhythm and disco vocal which are both laid over solid kicks. The resultant cut has funk to spare and has been tearing up the White Isle’s dancefloors ahead of its release this summer.

UK based duo Vibe Killers deliver two dance floor focused house cuts on Hot Creations subsidiary, Hottrax. 

Vibe Killers are two brothers from the North West of England who have dedicated their time to producing club orientated house music, releasing on labels like Sanity and Solardo’s Solâ imprint, not to mention their own label Killer Vibe Records. Having garnered support from the likes of wAFF, Hot Since 82, Pirupa and more, Jamie Jones now signs Vibe Killers to Hottrax where they join a high-calibre roster of producers including Yousef, Mark Jenkyns and Patrick Topping. 

‘Violator’ hits hard with powerful percussive loops, a grooving low end and haunting synthesiser melodies, elevated by the intelligent warping of a well selected vocal hook. ‘The Situation’ keeps up the energy with its hypnotic bassline, exciting drum work and simple yet effective mid-range hooks to close the release with style.

Remixes for every occasion on this one with Skream cranking up the Italo disco-o-meter to 14 on his bass driven peak time banger for large room raving whilst Jorja Chalmers takes the party back to a smoky shebeen on her mix that sounds like Tricky sharing a blunt with Aphex Twin whilst King Tubby twiddles the dials!

Our very own Massey finishes off the package with a mucky tops off style gutter pumper which belongs in those basements you'll often find him and many like minded souls dwelling within.
