It's taken us a little while to fully process what happened on Sunday but now we've had the time to recover from the madness that is Fusion Festival (you too, we hope??) we're realising just how much this gig meant to us and how happy we are with how it all went. Thank you to everyone who was there, who waited the extra 40 minutes while we battled with some technical difficulties, who cheered, sang our lyrics (wait, what?!) and danced with us. You were so supportive and after the first couple of songs the nervousness was almost gone and we could just enjoy sharing what we love together with you all. THANK YOU! You peeps are just great. <3

So, without further ado, here's our live set on the Velvet Soup stage at Fusion on Sunday night. Unfortunately the quality of the recording isn't great (where's the bass?!?), and we actually had to re-record a couple of parts at home due to an issue with the accordion microphone picking up the sound coming from the speakers, but we tried our best to play it exactly like we did on the night and blend it in smoothly with the original recording.  We are proud and happy and we hope you like it!

We had a lot of fun playing the last sunrise set at the Creatures Corner. It was a really beautiful experience for us personally and also a premiere because we’ve never played together as a trio before. Nugi & Full on Sheesh!

We are very happy about that experience. 
Everything felt super harmonious, and it was a real bromance! <3 
We’re very grateful that we were able to soak in the festival vibes for several days and then share all the love and energy back with everyone!

Next Saturday, @mystic.creatures_ will be back with @kosmoskuriosum at @im.freudentaumel. We’re also on the lineup and will be playing a cozy set on the deck! Feel free to grab a ticket; link in the bio. We’ll be bringing a bit of that festival vibe to Flucc.

Nugi & Kollektiv Sheesh I Mystic Creatures Festival 2024 I Last Sunrise I Creatures Corner

Die Sonne schielt gerade noch so über die Baumkronen des Waldes als sie das Boot ins Wasser lässt. Sanft schieben sich mit jedem ihrer Züge rechts und links kleine Seewasserwellen von ihr weg und verschwinden in der Ferne der spiegelnden Oberfläche. Mit einer Pfote taucht sie in die Klarheit der Welt unter sich ein, um sie anschließend, nun nass und kühl, auf ihrer Stirn zu platzieren und erleichtert auszuatmen. Diese Melodien...mit gespitzten Ohren führt sie ihren Weg fort, paddelt ihrem inneren Kompass entsprechend den wallenden Tönen hinterher, um ihr Ziel aufzuspüren – eine kleine, magische Insel, bewohnt von mystischen Kreaturen, reich an Träumen, Wünschen und Klängen, die für eine endlose Ewigkeit bestimmt sind. Ihre Augen geschlossen, erscheinen mehr und mehr dieser mystischen Wesen um sie herum, besiedeln das Wasser und letztendlich auch ihr Boot, was kurzer Hand ins Schwanken gerät, absinkt und droht zu kentern. Rechtzeitig genug öffnet sie ihre Augen, alles liegt ruhig da, das Licht des Tages hat sich zurückgezogen und hell erleuchtet funkeln Sterneschwärme am dunklen Vorhang der Nacht. Die Melodien schweben über dem See und rufen sie. Ihr Blick senkt sich und da sieht sie es: kleine, fluoreszierende Schatten am Ufer einer Insel, die tanzend die Nacht begrüßen. Zwischen den Bäumen ragt eine verspiegelte Kugel hindurch, aus der tausendfach feine Lichtstrahlen in alle Richtungen strömen und den Nachthimmel zu einem glitzernden Meer voller Diamanten werden lässt. Eine leichte Traurigkeit legt sich ums Herz der Disco Wölfin, in dem Wissen, dass es eine der letzten Sommernächte sein wird, kullert ihr eine Träne über die Wange und tropft in das Schwarz des Sees. Plötzlich fängt all das Wasser um sie herum an zu leuchten und die Melodien werden lauter und lauter. Ihr Boot setzt sich von alleine in Bewegung und steuert die Insel an, deren Besucher:innen wilder und freudiger tanzen, johlen und durch die Luft springen. Das Boot legt an, sie tritt heraus und in dem Moment, in dem sie den Boden unter sich spürt, ist alle Trauer verflogen und eine Welle voll Euphorie klettert durch sie hindurch. Auf der Lichtung vor ihr entdeckt sie ein Reh, mit einer rot-leuchtenden Nase, dass sie eifrig herbei winkt. Ohne groß zu überlegen, stapft sie los in die glitzernde Dunkelheit, wissend, dass am Ende alles gut sein wird.

In 2016 I put together this mixtape featuring some of my favourite songs of the time that had sampled the incredible "Think Break" taken from Lyn Collins' "Think (About It)" released originally in 1972 on James Brown's People Records. A fantastic song in its own right, but due to the creation of the sampler, it made a much larger impact in the music world than could have ever been expected.
