The second release on new reissue label 'Spring Hill' is the anthemic yet mega rare digital dancehall tune by Ricky Melody - 'What A Act'.
This murderous tune was originally released on Alpine Records in 1987 and was produced by Niney the Observer & G. Fipps. After enjoying brief popularity in the digital dancehall scene of the 80's, it disappeared into obscurity but remained in discreet rotation by several UK sound systems throughout the following two decades. Reissued here for the first time, this deadly tune along with a huge riddim on the flip, is the true meaning of a secret weapon.

Considered to be the heaviest tune ever recorded by Jah Thomas, Cool Profile was only available on his 1983 LP 'Dancehall Connection'. The next cut to Earl Cunningham's seminal tune of the same name, this soundsystem monster is presented here for the first time in it's full 45 glory. Interestingly enough, 'Cool Profile' depicts the 1983 oil crises in Jamaica. With billions of dollars in debt, oil supply to the Island was cut off which had a severe impact on life in Jamaica as well as on it's music industry as records weren't pressed for a good part of that year.
Remastered from the original master tapes with a seal of approval from Mr. Jah Thomas himself, this is a dance destroyer of the highest order !

On a recent visit to Jamaica we uncovered this unbelievable treasure – A huge track by the young Supercat, produced and recorded in 1984 by Jah Thomas. For reasons unknown, the tune never came out and was sitting patiently for 31 years, waiting to be discovered! Taken from the original master tapes, this is by far one of Cat's fiercest tunes. A prototype to his Sleng Teng anthem 'Trash and Ready', 'Ever Ready' is a strictly Clarks Wallabies and knits ganzie affair, with Supercat calling all posses as they roll in the dance. Cool & Deadly heavyweight mix with a riddim track by the mighty Roots Radics, this 45 is simply too essential to miss !!!

Spring Hill returns with a massive reissue 12" by Little John and Billy Boyo.
First up is 'Brandy' by Little John - originally performed by the O'Jays. The song is altered here by John to tell the tale of a yard-style unrequited love story. Then with no further ado, comes the most murderous combination by Little John and the late Billy Boyo on this uncredited tune we like to call 'Housman Connection'. Sharing one mic, check out the best child duo in reggae history rough it up, on top form, sound system style.
The record was produced by Toyan and was originally released in 1982 on his label 'Look How Me Sexy', followed by a UK release on Rusty's 'Music Lovers' imprint.

"She Sexy" was originally recorded at Channel One as a special for UK producer Rusty. It was released in 1985 on the Dancefloor label, on a split showcase LP called Michael Palmer Meets Kelly Ranks At Channel One. The next cut for Freddy McKay's Another Weekend and Johnny Osbourne's Kiss Somebody, this tune is definitely one of the heaviest to be recorded on this monstrous, sound system riddim. Palmer repetitively describes Rusty's girl as being 'sexy like a bottle of pepsi', transforming this weighty roots riddim into an early dancehall bombshell.

And here's the good part - The version is a previously unreleased dub version, mixed by the Scientist in an ultra hard Rub A Dub style!

Both sides are a must for any serious selectors out there looking for that super heavy bass weight in a cool & deadly fashion.

On the A-side, the discomix morphs the original into a fierce 4x4 heavyweight dub belter. Flip to the B-side for a special dubplate mix condensing the vocal and the dub into an extra deadly sound system weapon.
