Beesmunt Soundsystem - Blissed Out (STW Premiere)

In their first official release (discounting the sweet, whitelabel Casino Edits 2) since their full-length album on Wolf Music, Familiar Circles, London-based duo @Casino-Times has teamed up with Swedish imprint @Omena-records for a four track EP. The label, run by @Tooli of @LocalTalk fame, has a sound that could best be characterized as whimsical and airy, with cheerful chord progressions and rare rhythms often decorating their tracks. The Decoded EP sees Casino Times’ pensive, layered electronic sound combining rather well with the label’s aesthetic.

The B1 track  “Simulation Bamboo” has an 80s electro inspired drum kit being layered with celestial and moody synth riffs and well-arranged strings. Perhaps the track title does a bit of foreshadowing in this case, as the piece contains an interesting combination of electronic and eastern colors. The song is at once both ominous and bright in mood, and could equally be seen soundtracking a roadtrip as much as it could the early AM segment of an emotional warehouse bash.

PREMIERE : Casino Times - Simulation Bamboo

After putting out Kito Jempere’s stunning Sea Monster album earlier in the year, Hell Yeah now serve up a bunch of remixes from it that have been secret weapons for the last few months. Behind them are Black Spuma, Lipelis and Bell Towers and they all serve up real heaters. First up with possibly their best ever remix are Black Spuma—a collaboration between Phillip Lauer (Tuff City Kids, Arto Mwambe) and Fabrizio Mammarella (Telespazio)—who flip ‘Ampa’ into a bootylicious house cut with fat bass stabs and sci-fi synths. It’s retro in flavour and riddled with melodies that are brightly coloured and emotive, and when the vocal is layered in it helps carry you away on a wave of bliss. For DJs who prefer to keep things raw, a dub version without the vocals is also included and bangs that bit harder. 
Lipelis is a Russian studio wizard and the percussionist from Kito Jempere Band. Famed for his originals on LIES, underrated remixes of MacDonald Flak And The Ack-Ack Packs and for his high impact jams as TMP, he is a real music maniac. Here the Moscow man reworks Lifetime Theme into a cosmic bouncer with taught rubber kick drums and nimble melodies that dance over the beats. His own virtuoso percussion and exotic chords add tropical flavours and the whole thing has corrugated bass that gets right under your skin. 
Lastly, up steps Australian artist Bell Towers from the Public Possession label. His playful version of Lifetime Theme has punchy broken beats and steamy vocal yelps overlaid by big sonorous chords. Uplifting progressions bring a sense of party and big piano chords add another layer of arms in the air fun. Deep but dynamic, it’s a lush track to close out another EP packed with high grade weaponry.

Over the past year, he has taken steps in sculpting his own distinct Italo-disco-esque style, taking influence from both his eclectic record collection and extensive touring experiences. The Panoramic Love EP is the culmination of those factors, making a nod to the 80's with a heavy focus on synths and drum workouts.
“This was an entertaining EP to make, the majority was me sitting down in my studio hitting record and jamming until something sat right. There wasn’t a huge amount of gear involved just an Arturia Keylab MIDI keyboard, my VSTs and the occasional Roland TR-8” - REES 

Locking us into the dance floor right from the start is the EP’s title track, Panoramic Love is a melody-filled electric stunner. Rising arpeggios and extended stabs are what keeps this track on a high-octane energy level.
