Following on from the release of Innershades' No Stopping EP on Creme Organization last summer, the Dutch label revisits the a-side cut 'Nina At The Boiler Room' with two remixers in tow. Those remixers are Bristol's bass pioneer Kowton and the inimitable production duo of Tuff City Kids. 

Unterton and Delsin duo Gerd Janson & Phillip Lauer aka Tuff City Kids turn in a bulky, piano laced and acid riddled remix of 'Nina' that is a pure party starter. Idle Hands and Hessle Audio man Kowton reworks 'Nina' into something run through with plenty of sirens, raw, crunchy drum loops and rolling percussive lines. It's stormy and tumultuous and is full of frosty textures. These are two abrasive tracks designed for maximum impact on the dancefloor.

An integral member of the Bristolian trio, Livity Sound - alongside Peverelist and Kowton - Asusu (aka Craig Stennett) is admittedly the less well-known name in the outfit. But after making his debut on the Project Squared label back in 2009, he’s steadily amassed a run of 12” singles that place him quite pointedly within the circle of artists pushing the techno axis into new and interesting directions - especially considering the Livity label’s impact with their run of four singles and their compendium like compilation last year (a result of which they were voted the label of 2013 by RA). 

Seeming very much like an equal project, Livity Sound’s appeal comes from them presenting such a determinedly unified front, simply creating their own brand of raw, uncompromising music to dance to. As part of their mantra’s legacy, Asusu’s tracks have been remixed by artists like A Made Up Sound, Nick Hoppner and MMM and the trio’s combined live set has toured venues across the world. Ahead of his appearing in Room One for the June leg of the Hessle Audio residency alongside the Hessle trio and Matthew Herbert, Asusu’s put together this rather exclusive 55 minute mixtape which, with tracks from Jeff Mills, Beneath, Szare, Pris and Batu, really helps to further illustrate his position perfectly.

Solid Steel (24th October) Peverelist is our guest in Hour 1, an artist at the forefront of Bristol's electronic music scene, runs the excellent Punch Drunk label and is one third of Livity Sound, alongside recent guest Kowton and Asusu. The mix includes a track from the forthcoming compilation 'Livity Sound Remixes' which is out on November 3rd, and this is what he had to say;

"When i record a mix I usually grab the records I've been vibing on recently and make it up as i go along. This one turned out a bit more techno flavoured than maybe usual, but has a few more UK oriented bits too, i usually like to mix it up like that. There's a few new tracks in there and some old classics too..."
