The tracks starts with Martin in his innocent sweet voice of those early years saying “Song for Tony - Sarah’s revenge!”. There was a camaraderie about us in those days as I tried to plant the seeds of the band in the fertile ground of creativity, nourished with the right influences. 

After months of recording covers of Elvis and New York Dolls songs I’d left Deg and X alone with the equipment at Pindock one evening. When I got home they surprised me, looking pleased with themselves, having recorded this quite cute song, one of the first originals they ever attempted. 

Remember, I’d written over four albums worth of songs already with Billy Idol in Generation X but for them this was a new experience. X had played the bass too, with a kind of circular riff with Deg’s rather naive lyric about a girl he once knew - It was a tiny flicker of originality.
