This year at Pynk I had to privilege to play a little set for the very first time. What an honor! What you see on the cover is the art installation that we built for Cielos and Pynk XI with @Fantinb and @Lyorapissarro. This year came strong for the amount of expression that’s coming out, a lot of letting things fly rather than keeping them inside. And that feels absolutely amazing! This mix unfolded spontaneously on a recent Friday night. My family had gone to bed and I got lost in my headphones. There are so many great tracks on this one! and I'm happy to share the artistry of these amazing producers. Mixed and recorded at home, 476 days into the covid-era.

Romanski presents Afterhour Sounds Podcast Nr. 218

Mix 007 was recorded live at a pool party in Glendale, CA. I pressed the record button about an hour into the mix, so I apologize for it starting halfway through a track. The recording also cut off at hour 3, but there’s plenty of magic in between :] 

This mix is dedicated to my dearest cousin, Anita. If it wasn’t for Anita, I don’t know if my taste in electronic music would evolve as much as it has. She introduced me to so many new friends, parties, DJ’s. For the last 6 years, she’s put me on a list here, a list there, a list next weekend and the weekend after that. My cousin introduced me to the “scene” - and for that I am forever grateful. 

Exquisite music taste, the most tasteful style, Anita is and attracts the finer things in life. There’s no time for bad music, parties, sound, vibe, people… Anita is smart in her tasteful decision making. If she likes a DJ, that means they’re fucking good. We ain’t got time for bad music. 

I can feel my cousin feel my emotions when I’m playing music. She’s my blood. She feels the butterflies in my tummy, the excitement and obsession for finding fresh music, the passion and love for quality tunes, she feels all those things with me. Music is what brought our relationship closer, and our unconditional love for it melts into our unconditional love for each other.. like a perfect, melty transition. 

Here’s mix 007. I think I spun for a total of 9 hours straight… this was about an eighth of the way into the day, where I try to keep the day time vibes boosted. If I gain the trust of the dancers from the beginning, then I’m free to do whatever I want in the later hours. All these experiences are really making and forming me into such a confident DJ. I feel like I can mix anything with anything. Sometimes my fingers feel like a higher power is taking control. Everything blends so seamlessly. The attention and passion I put into those knobs and faders pump through the speakers. As fast and as much as I’m learning, I will always approach this art with a humble attitude, hunger to learn more, and    excitement for every single opportunity. 

My cousin talks to me on a daily basis. She knows the process and amount of homework I put into this craft. Tracks don’t get put into my playlists easy. The ratio is about listening to a 100 bad tracks to find that 1 really good one. So one thing I’ve learned from my cousin Anita, always pick the finer things in life. Put in your work, set a standard, and don’t settle for mediocre. Thank you cuz, I love you.

Welcome back to the Magician On Duty Journey Series!

On this edition, we welcome @krautmusica

KR∆UT is the moniker of Amsterdam’s household name Daniel Zuur. With this alter ego he’s bound to bring his audience a flux of world music influenced electronica, different tempo’s and lots of percussion.   Daniel has been a staple in the Amsterdam club scene since 2009. His unique sound and organic mixes have earned him a name in the alternative electronic music scene, as his sets have been attributed to being melancholic, dynamic but above all, deeply melodic.  
Haunted by the drums and his experience as a drummer in several bands, Daniel has developed an exceptional rhythm and sound that no label will do justice. 

As KR∆UT he released on labels like Shika Shika, Wonderwheel Recordings, Metanoia, Cosmic Awakenings, Tropical Twista Records and recently on new label The Other Eye where he got remixed by sir Acid Pauli.  The producer composes sets that exist in their own singularity; every single one being an individual story that creates its own atmosphere. 

Every set is textured by a whole variety of original tracks that he adapts with precise care and proper timing live on stage: dialogues, natural sounds and warm beats, all treated into a highly dynamic and unique set. He also played live at national and international clubs, festivals such as: Sisyphos, Fusion Festival, Gardens of Babylon, Wildeburg, Marktkantine, Garbicz and Welcome to the Future.

There is always a sign of hope or a positive aspect in an otherwise negative situation. In the past few months, when we were all apart, music brought us together like nothing else would in these circumstances. We decided to show our appreciation and continue this unity through our new podcast series called "The Bright Side".

With an excellent ear for details, floating melodies interweaved with melancholic and uplifting sounds, @muisca_music never seizes to amaze us with what he delivers both in his live sets and podcasts. An amazing soul who made us experience what we would call our most memorable nights in New York and around the world, we feel very lucky to share with you his set for the Bright Side.
