While most people were sat around wondering how to stretch their stockings and how late they could leave their shopping, Squatter devised himself a challenge. 

Wanting to see just how much it was possible to push his productivity and manufacture inspiration to a deadline, he decided to attempt to remix a whole track every single day throughout Advent 2009. 

In order to free himself of any commercial desiring that could taint the creation of the music, he also decided to donate any earnings from the tracks to the charity 'Making Music'. 

With this established the tracks were free to develop how they wanted, without wondering about who would listen to them or what they would be used for, which probably accounts for some of the extremes of sound and genre which occurred. 

The idea was only construed late November, so it didn't leave a lot of time to gather tracks from 25 different artists, and even well into the project the requested tracks were being sent in, sometimes on the morning when they were due to be remixed!

The artists involved spanned a multitude of styles and disciplines - breakbeat, funk, ambience, house trip-hop, electronica and electro producers, a number of different live bands, vocalists, a beat-boxer, a contemporary dance composer, a singer/songwriter, an orchestral arranger, a pianist, a percussive guitarist, and even a short-film director all kindly provided sounds for the ambitious project. 

After a 25 day twisted haze of sound, Squatter appeared clutching a whole pile of remixes, some of which he didn't even remember making! He also managed to squeeze in an extra track on top of the one a day quota (and complete Kingdom Hearts 2 from scratch in the down-time!), with the results ranging from hypnotic ambience through to beastly glitched up breakbeat. 

This dysfunctional collection of 26 tracks has skilfully been fused together into two epic mixes and merged into a more easily digestible state, by two of Pyrate Music's top DJs - Anek and Disfunk. 

So sit back and zone or stand up and shake your bum, whichever you deem is appropriate, and enjoy the spawning of Squatter's Advent Remix Challenge!
