An older recording. Truly one about being trans. This is based off a dream I had many years ago where I was being chased, but out paced the crowd, and flew up into the sky beyond their reach. It was exhilarating and terrifying. In high school, at the prom, I wore a spiffy suit, and my guy friends all told me they wished they looked that good in a suit. It gave me great gender feels, but then so much of the time when out and about if it’s discovered that I am not what someone perceived, I often see a feeling of deceit and betrayal… as an empathetic person I have to shield myself from other’s micro reactions to my very existence so that I can validate myself when it’s not immediately accessible to me, and sometimes violently absent from my day to day. Holding that space for others is exhausting. Sometimes I have trouble holding it just for myself. This song was also written around the time of my divorce, so it was also about how married life wasn’t for me the way I had been living it.

A lusty song of love and adoration for a lover. It is honestly still one of the best I feel I’ve come up with. It’s honest, and remains true to this day. It’s about the insecurities of loving and sex as a queer person. There is so much tied into being trans and finding a partner after heartbreak. Carving a new relationship with relationships, and this touches on that sense of insecurity about even HOW to love. I’m here for the heat, but it may take a while to warm up, or the temperature might not be consistent- I’m here for it but it won’t be easy. I hope the vibe of this song makes the hips wiggle!
