This is version 2 of my composition, "Podhum Indha Kadhal" which was composed about 8 years back. The first version was released 3 years ago. This is a different arrangement for the song done entirely on my iPad using GarageBand for iOS. This is a song about a person who is heart broken yet again and decides to not love anyone again. He chooses to focus on his career instead and wants to win in life.

This was my first ever song for which a lyrics was written and the song was recorded with vocalists and instrumentalists. It was composed for a contest titled "Anthem of Chennai" way back in 2006. We went up till the finals with this song. Refer

Looking back, I am not so proud of this song today. But still, in a way, it was my first recorded song and this paved way for further own compositions and recordings. 

This was recorded and mixed fully using the opensource Audacity. Vocals and instruments were recorded one-by-one directly and there was no sequencing involved.

This was my entry for the title track contest of "Vivel Miss Chennai, Chennai Man" reality show from Star Vijay TV. This happened around 6-7 years back. It was my initial days in composing and recording. This didn't win any prizes, but it was a good experience.

It has been 10 years since the Asian Tsunami was struck this day in 2004. At that time, a college student, Sai Abishek, shot a documentary on the aftermath of tsunami and the relief work. It was titled, 'Stories along the east coast'. He had approached me for the background music and that is how this came about. There was a short film competition in his college and this documentary was not part of the competition. But it was screened at the famous Sathyam Cinemas in Chennai on Mar 20, 2005.

In this track, there are 3 pieces. The first piece (0:00 to 0:45) was composed for the titles. But the director wanted a more elaborate and a more emotional piece. So this wasn't used in the documentary at all. But still I wanted to share that. 

The second piece (0:46 to 5:00) in D minor, was composed much earlier and he had liked that piece and wanted to use it in this documentary. So I elaborated a bit, and in the middle I also transitioned to a variation of the first piece (which is in E Phrygian mode) and then came back to the original theme in D minor. I liked the way I had done the scale changes as it was something new for me.

The third piece (5:02 to 6:20) is like a symphonic variation of the 2nd theme.

This was my first musical work for someone else. It was very early then (2005) and I hadn't still got a grip on composing and recording music. I was still using the basic sounds from my PC's Microsoft MIDI Mapper (or something like that). Those are some very very basic sounds you get from the computer. There will be a handful of instruments (128) and they don't sound realistic. I wasn't aware of VSTs or hadn't used any real instruments (except for a flute by Dilip, which doesn't feature in this track). The 2nd piece in this track was played on my friend's (Srini) PSR 2100 keyboard with an in-built accompaniment style. The 1st and 3rd were from the default MIDI sounds on my PC.

Love Theme and Song from Rudraveena / Unnal Mudiyum Thambi arranged and performed by Sripathy Ramesh. Originally composed by Ilaiyaraaja. 

The song is "Lalitha Priya Kamalam" in Rudraveena and "Idhazhil Kadhai Ezhuthum" in Unnal Mudiyum Thambi. Both the Theme Music and the song are set in Raag Lalitha because the heroine character's name is Lalitha Kamalam in that movie. 

I have arranged the entire track as well as played the lead melody entirely on the iPhone.

Unnal Mudiyum Thambi / Rudraveena - Love Theme and Song

HDFC Bank's signature tune (MOGO® developed by BrandMusiq) is heard widely across all its ATM. One fine day, I listened to it at the ATM and tried playing that tune at home. I then developed it further into a small track and here is the result. Let me know your feedback.
