This EP is based on sounds my synthesisers could make without using their audio engines, such as the sounds of operation, audio outputs and the noise floor.

The Synthesiser is an ironic minimalist piece, sounding like a piece made with true synthesis. Musically, it explores phase music and the interplay of rhythms across the stereo field.

The Synthesist is an electro-acoustic piece portraying a user operating a synthesiser, implying the causality of human gestures. I approached the structure by aiming for each previous section to imply the next, simulating the user’s train of thought.

Here is a sneak preview of a project I have recently mixed for Mariano Capezzani. 
I was asked to mix this rough version of the track so that Mariano could get a sense of what his tracks in his upcoming album are likely to sound like when finished, helping to inform decisions during the composition phase. 
Composers discussed during the reference stage included Vangelis, Jean-Michel Jarre and Ludwig Goransson.

This is a track I mixed as part of my final year mixing unit. We had to mix the track using a hybrid workflow of Pro Tools and an SSL AWS 924 Delta, in addition to outboard gear such as API 527 compressors and Neve 1073 EQs.

The second work from my ongoing exploration of ambient electronica, Odyssey Project 2 has more of a focus on contrast between ambient, textural composition and rhythmic drive.
