Napstacom reveals here that they set up all those previous traps and minigames just to appear cooler to their audience, in the hopes that they would look impressive and it would boost their self esteem. Undyne helped out, in the hopes that one of these minigames could "accidentally" go wrong and kill the human.
Napstacom decides here in a depressive episode that they've failed, and that maybe they should just give in to what they've known Undyne's plan was all along. Undyne pounds on the door, trying to tell Napstacom that she's changed her ways, but it's too late.

W. D. Gaster. The revered scientist who created the big magic lightbulb that casts The Cliffs in an eternal sunset. People weren't sure he could do it. He had spent months working on it, and felt like he was put under a lot of pressure. After all, it had to be up to Chara's standards. It had to be perfect. At least, that's what he thought Chara's standards were.

Just as Gaster is about to test out his latest invention with the hopes of furthering process on his barrier-breaking research, it blows up in his face. The first thing he sees after the smoke clears up is Oliver, and it leads him to draw only one conclusion.
