My wife and I (and now our kids even) tend to walk around the house singing songs we make up, often with rediculous lyrics. This was one that she came up with our first year of marriage or so and it kind of stuck (we still sing the hook occasionally just for fun). It was catchy enough that I wanted it to be a full song so I added accompaniment, a B section and viola: 1 Ton Tomato.

Recorded and mixed entirely by me in linux using Ardour 3.

1 Ton Tomato

This is an extension of the Cellular Automaton Synth demo to demonstrate the rest of the infamous plugins. The only sounds that don't come from the Cellular Automaton Synth came from a bass guitar, a strat copy, and a cheap microphone. The only plugins used beside infamous plugins is a reverb and a LPF on some of the distorted tracks. You can get your very own infamous plugins at http://infamousplugins.sourceforge.net/index.html

I was just messing around with the new Ardour4 DAW. I only used 4 plugins, rudolf drum machine, infamous hip2b and power cut, and rkr echo.

An acapela tribute to the day I love to call "Bleak Friday." I just wanted to finish it before said day, so its a bit rough, but all vocals done by me in ardour in linux (as usual). Mixed using calf comp and exciter and not much else. Shop responsibly! :D

Black Friday

Made with a completely open-source toolchain, starring the open-source Helm synth as the only sound source, processed with many other open-source plugins in the open-source lv2 standard for processing including (but not limited to) the open-source a-plugins, the open-source eq10q plugins, and the open-source calf plugins. This was done using Ardour, an open-source DAW, on linux, an open-source operating system, and we collaborated using git, the open-source version control system. In a word, we have been rather "open" about it.

ssj71 & rghvdberg - OSC90 - Helm of Dreams

A tunestorm contribution I wrote where we were required to use samples from the No Budget Orchestra (http://www.bandshed.net/sounds/). I decided to go for a jazz waltz. It would sound way better with real instruments, but it's not half bad for free samples.

Made (as always) with Ardour on linux.

Broken Still Dancing

Another tunetorm composition. I wanted to try using the Rakarrack Infinity plugin to approximate Shephard tones, and also wanted to try leaving as much space as possible. Oh and I wanted to use lushlife with some really weird settings for the vocals. We were required for the tunestorm to use the clean guitar riffs you hear, so that part came from Jason Harrer. I also wanted a trombone solo.

Space

The Pajama Machine comes when it's bed time, and you STILL don't have your pajamas on!? First you hear the typical after-dinner continuation of some twin kindergarten-age boys' playday, meandering between messy activities, but then bedtime approaches, and the Pajama Machine warns of its coming. Still, the playtime resumes, and even escalates. When the Machine returns, chaos ensues as it consumes any who oppose and promises even they will sing the Pajama theme. The story ends as the Machine processes the boys (puts their pajamas on) despite their desperate struggle. Not that they'll go to sleep anyway but at least now he can read them a book, close their door and go start cleaning up their mess in the living room.

This track was made for the KVR OSC and all sounds were programmed from the default patch of the excellent softsynth OBXd. The sequencing and mixing was performed in ardour on linux (as usual) using (almost) exclusively the built-in a-* plugins to attempt a fully-cross platform project. ssj71 - OSC93 OBXd - Pajama Machine

Another Tunestorm entry going for in the box guitar tones. This was meant to be a Hendrix "tribute." It was made using the usual suspects, Ardour 5.5 on Ubuntu making lots of use of the CAPS AmpVTS plugin for guitar sounds. This is still a demo, at some point I'd like to improve the mix and add the 2nd chorus that I couldn't record due to a cold right before the tunestorm was due!

Made with Ardour on Debian Linux. This one popped out while I was singing in the shower a few years back. It's good to finally get it recorded and somewhere people can hear it. Enjoy!
