On his third EP, Five Suns injects a rare dynamism and variety in his return to vibe.digital. The producer’s fondness for incorporating novel patterns and sound styles into the Wave genre gains more ferocity on the Helios EP. Piecing together elements from his dubstep background, with pulsing, swirling synths, and ghost-like atmospheres, “Helios EP” is heralded by a pilot’s voice in the title track, signaling a mission in space. An apt visual for a sonic adventure into a new world.

The Oxidized compilation series is a charity project we have been working on since the inception of The Rust Music, with Oxidized, Vol. 1 being our very first label release in February 2017. At the end of each year we select a new charity, aid organization, or non-profit, to which all proceeds from the series are donated. In the past we have donated to organizations focusing on natural disaster aid, environmental restoration and preservation, as well as civil/human rights advocates and COVID-19 relief efforts on local, national, and international levels. 2022 proceeds from the Oxidized series will be donated to support women’s rights to healthcare and access to abortion, with this year’s donation to be determined towards the end of 2023.

Across the last 6 years, we've recurrently tapped into a network of both our roster talent and our close associates across the experimental electronic music spectrum to craft our first two Oxidized compilations. Now, for the final entry in the Oxidized Trilogy, we've brought together 32 producers, songwriters, and musicians from the US, the UK, Germany and Georgia to craft 28 tracks that cross through a medley of motifs in Hip-Hop, Drum & Bass, Downtempo, and more. From dissolution to solar apex to reincarnation, each piece maps post-mortem consciousness through ambient soundscapes, sacred vocals, and ritual percussion. 65 minutes of deep listening meditation.

I. The Threshold - Dissolution of Elements

Booms and Claps favorite OAKK AKA Cole Edwards of Calgary, Canada has had a hell of a year. His production output was incredible, ranging from a host of Soundcloud singles to his debut EP on China's Unchained Records to his recent edit pack "Remixes & Edits Vol. 1." His tour appearances were nothing short of impressive, hitting legendary North American mainstays from Denver's Black Box Theatre to Canada's Shambhala Music Festival. He even topped it off with a well-received and swaggy Boiler Room appearance at Bass Coast Music Festival, alongside big names like Sam Binga, Kahn, and The Librarian.

To tie up an amazing 2019, today marks the self-release of his latest offering, the "Ellipsis EP". The release checks all the boxes we've come to expect from OAKK: R&B tinged head-nodders, wonky hip-hop beats, and even a dancefloor banger or two. In our opinion, this is definitely some of his best work yet and represents a culmination of the progress and growth OAKK has made over the past couple years as a producer.
