When the culture of hip-hop first began to take shape in the 1970s, 
it consisted of at least four fundamental elements: 
deejaying, emceeing, graffiti, and breaking.

Breaking, popularly known as breakdancing today, was created 
in the Bronx in New York City. The term breakdancing as it’s used 
in the media often mixes New York’s b-boying and West Coast–developed dance styles like popping, locking, and the electric boogaloo. B-boy dance moves are influenced by a number of cultural sources, including African-American and Afro-Caribbean music, kung fu, and capoeira.

Breaking reached peak popularity in the mid-1980s, when a 
number of films showcased the moves and the youth who created it. 
Breaking began as a mode of self-expression; it was a part of a larger culture that reflected the social, economic, and political conditions of the youth at that time. Now, decades later, as the style and moves of breaking have changed, so have some of its traditions.

SSPS is Jon Winfield Nicholson AKA Jon Sunville AKA Porkchop AKA Blaak Gigi. Originally known as "Private Sector" Jon did a string of Performance based sound performances in late 2004 in NYC. The "SS" was adopted partly to resolve design issues for the LED ER EST / SSPS split 7inch released in late 2007. With the release of that seven inch, it marked the beginning of the Private Sector as "Secret Servant of the Private Sector".In 2008 SSPS again transforms itself into the Saccharine Sister of the Pyramid Snake, and again in 2010 with the Savage Society Private Sector. Jon is also a member of EXCEPTER since 2003. SSPS makes intentional strides to shine the third eye onto the crystal, emanating shades of blues, concrete, and punk . In January 2013, SSPS's membership grows by one with the welcome addition of Brooklyn based designer and rebel rouser- Erica Kenia to the line up. In her off time she gives old clothes new lives through experimentation with clothing label as St. Kenia. She is also the face behind the mask for parties "Kitty" and "Kooler than Jesus" at Wreckroom Bar in Brooklyn, NY. In musical circles she is known as DJ JRK PRTY aka DJ Crytsal Visions. SSPS has released music on Avant God, Nation, Long Island Electrical Systems, and Obsolete Units.
