A mandolin, a radiator, a metallic door, a kitchen stove knob, a squeaky wooden staircase, a wooden gym espalier, a Tibetan bowl, a drumstick - and our interactions – all sampled through a zoom recorder and then re-sampled, glitched, stretched, granulated and then mixed trough digital software while live jamming. This experiment could be an auditive narration for our surrounding environment: the house we live in, and few objects that we usually interact with. We reproduce some everyday noises, and as well explore possible new sounds that some of the objects mentioned may produce. After gathering a sample library, all the recordings go through some processing and then they become instruments for our live performance. We are interested in how a given object may deliver a pallete of various sounds, and explore the possibilities of transforming the samples, after `screwing them up` and rearranging them. The tools that we use are like a site-specific orchestra, providing variations of an unseen sound library which we have around in our everyday life. For the Experimance performance, we would like to record some in-situ noises, from interacting with objects that are present in the performance room and recording also some of the works which will be featured in the festivals exhibition, if possible. After recording, we will process the recorded samples and give a live improv performance with the resulted pieces of recordings. For us, this is almost a way of using a language which comes along with the context of site-specificness, a language of objects which we are not even aware of.

Screw is an experimental music project initiated in 2019 by Alexandra Mocan and Cezar Cîmpeanu, both living in Cluj-Napoca. 
Based on live improvisation, their aim is to investigate the unlimited
potential of sound by screwing up various recorded or synthesized samples and freaking them out with software or hardware tools.
