Vanity Productions is the solo moniker of Christian Stadsgaard, a crucial figure in the contemporary Nordic electronic and experimental music scenes. Standing at the helm of the label Posh Isolation with Loke Rahbek, Stadsgaard is responsible for one of the most consistent and compelling labels to both define and elaborate the many productive sides of the underground in the last decade.

As a performing and recording artist his work with Rahbek as Damien Dubrovnik was a critical project in the contemporary noise milieu. More recently his collaborative work with Jonas Rönnberg as The Empire Line has gained significant notoriety. However, it's as Vanity Productions that the full breadth of the emotive intensity of Stadsgaard's work is felt.

Recumbence, placidity and all the graceful gradations of the form of appearances - the new Teatre mix for Amulet of Tears is an inherently charged musical theme of its potent coherence. Stealthy blasts - dynamic shin up and back again to the endearment of ponderous notes, the assemblage as remnants of plethora - looking at the entire world and feeling the tremendous correlation between you and everything, until the thrill of tremor conquers the tight rooms. Teatre irradiates in the last compilation ‘Invisible Cities’ on Amulet of Tears as well as in the perception of the label Lux Rec and among others through the absolute form of his own.

Todorecto Records is a Brussels label with an Art Nouveau aesthetic. Each project of the label is born from a vegetal inspiration. The label wants to develop hybrid music, moving between musical movements, metamorphic with an identity always in connection with its locality.

Impossible de deviner que, derrière cet épais entrelacs de branches, se trouve l'entrée d'une grotte. C'est une simple fente dans la paroi, dont s'échappe une odeur profonde, chargée de vie et de mort mêlés.
Après quelques mètres à peine, l'air se fait lourd et saturé d'humidité, les ténèbres s'épaississent. 
La progression est lente et chaotique, car il faut maintenant s'aider des mains dans ce qui n'est plus qu'un boyau étroit.

Après un parcours qui semblait interminable, dans une oppressante absence de lumière, de mouvement et d'espace, le boyau s'ouvre sur une vaste caverne, et une bruine fraîche se dépose sur votre visage.
Dans cette vaste salle, une chute d'eau s'écoule dans un lac aux remous envoûtants, et des pierres bleutées incrustées partout dans les parois dégagent une faible lueur, donnant l'illusion d'une nuit étoilée, vous tombez à genoux, et tout semble s'élever.

Ex. Hale’s music is characterised by dark, atmospheric textures that is driven by a modern vision of club music. The project is focused on the deconstruction of common compositional standards with the addition of crushing rhythm structures that establishes the unusual framework of Ex.Hale’s subversive approach. 

With releases on Sonic Groove, Rudiment, and Voidance, in addition to an increasing number of performances in clubs, museums and festivals around Europe, Ex.Hale is has become a formidable force in electronic and experimental music.

Which artists has influenced you the most?

- The artists that influenced me the most in my career were and still are Amon Tobin, Aphex Twin, Miles Davis (especially his “electro” period) and punk & metal.

What new projects/releases with your participation are expected in the near future?

- Ex.Hale new album is at master stage (Alessio Barbuzza aka Hålbå is taking care of it) and will be out after Summer, Skøgen (Hålbå and myself) will be out soon on Several Minor Promises and the new experimental project Cocktail Party Effect and myself created few months ago is finally ready and will be out on Festivals this summer. Regarding live Ex.Hale project will be around Europe in some selected Festivals and clubs (can’t say anything at the moment because line-ups are still not announced).

Which artists/labels is more relevant to you now?

- Hard questions, I’ve too many I’m following. At the moment my favorites names are EKATA, Isabassi, Cocktail Party Effect, Kamikaze Space Programme, IDKLANG and Beatrix Weapon. Label wise for sure PAN, MUTE and Ninja Tune are all time favs but I add also Sonic Groove for the more techno side, Cold Spring for Industrial/post-industrial and Nervous Horizon and Changeless for the more avantgarde club and electronic music.

What inspires you now to create music?

- I guess like most musicians, emotions, what I experience everyday and I transform in music.

What set-up do you use when creating music?

- I redesigned my studio recently and kept it simple, thinking about live performance. So I have an Octatrack as main brain for my setup, some synths, some pedals and a couple of cheap analog mixers to get the right vibes.
