When I was writing Don’t Text Me When You’re Drunk, I wanted the song to be super relatable lyrically and interesting musically. I was going through the events in the song and they were fresh, so the lyrics just poured out of me. I used a jazzy chord progression and piano riff to complement the message that I was trying to get across! And huge thanks to Tik Tok for introducing me to Zai and his amazing verse. He brought an element of rap and hip hop to a pop-jazz song and I think it elevates to vibe completely.
