With releases on Crosstown Rebels, Hot Creations and BPitch Control, it's safe to say Venezuelan-originating, Barcelona-based duo Fur Coat are backed by some real key players.

Last year's 'There's No Time' EP on Jamie Jones and Lee Foss' HC was a proper smash, with the title track a certainty to mess with your mind. That followed the 'U Turn' EP on Damian Lazarus' Crosstown, a tasty four-tracker of sizzling grooves.

Soon they make their debut for Balance, mixing the 'Balance presents Fur Coat' compilation featuring cuts by DJ Koze, Francesca Lombardo, Roman Flügel and a couple from themselves.

Madrid native Dennis Cruz makes his Solid Grooves Records debut with three rumbling cuts including a remix from fellow countryman Wade.

Since his debut in 2010, Cruz has become a staple in Beatport’s charts, not to mention the sets of artists such as Marco Carola, Joseph Capriati, Nicole Moudaber, Yousef and Roger Sanchez. Throughout this time the likely producer has dropped releases on Saved, Deeperfect, Stereo Productions and Kinetika, not to mention his very own imprint Lemon-Aid Music. He now arrives on PAWSA & Michael Bibi’s Solid Grooves Records, joining the likes of Wade, Kuo Climax and Rockwell & Landers for an exciting second year for the label.

Initiating with the sound of a roaring crowd, ‘See Line’ was produced with the dancefloor in mind using thudding kicks, arcane vocal samples and an energetic rhythm. ‘Heads or Cruz’ is a more low-slung number with a focus on a killer groove, whilst ‘Bienvenido’ engages in a medley of percussive elements geared for peaktime antics. Tying the package together, Wade remixes ‘See Line’ to give it his signature twist whilst ensuring the heady vocals reiterate throughout.

If you’ve at all sniffed around the Beatport charts at some stage in the last 12 months, then it’s highly likely that you’ll have been hugely impressed by a Berlin-based duo that go under the name ‘Mat.Joe’. With a string of releases and remixes in the last year on Snatch! Mother Recordings, Defected, Strictly Rhythm and of course Toolroom Trax, it’s an outright pleasure to have them return for their debut single release on the governing Toolroom Records this spring.

‘Nighthawk’ is an all-consuming tech house affair packed with deep grooves, guitar and synth licks and a dimly lit vocal performance, creating a delicately atmospheric personality within the track. Mat.Joe wholly boast their signature warm-yet-rough sound pallet and once again show us why their tracks are in such high demand. 

The release is graced by a stunning re-work from Dosem who twists up the original elements and creates a dark roller that’s crafted to perfection.
