Scattered Mind

Music has always been the most important and only consistent thing in my life. Ever since I can remember, I've been drawn to creating, performing, curating, and essentially living inside this beautiful universal language that conveys emotions in ways that words could never do.

When I discovered electronic music, my world exploded. For the first time in my life, I felt that I could finally create the music I had always imagined.

As someone on the autism spectrum, connecting with others socially and trusting people can be extremely challenging. Music has been one of the only ways for me to connect with people, and I had originally thought that making music was all it took to "make it" in the music scene.

However, I soon realized that it takes much more than just making music. You have to connect with people at events, be likeable, play social games, create content, and constantly engage with your audience. After five years of doing this, I don't even recognize myself anymore. I've been living a character, wearing a mask, and playing a part just to feel a sense of validation from the one thing that makes me happy and helps me feel "normal."

This album is a collection of most of everything I've written under the moniker "merman.g" that I could recover, maybe around 15% of the total stuff I've written. Some of these are unfinished ideas, sketches, and prototypes. I barely even recognize myself anymore, performing on social media all day in the hopes that someone will pay attention. I've been going through tremendous change, and I think I need to take a serious step back from the social aspects of this scene and rediscover why I started doing this in the first place.

Thank you to the small few who constantly support me, reaffirm me, and make me feel like I'm not just shouting into the void. The social media posts are going to slow down a lot, but I still plan to release music that feels like me. When I do release, it will only be about the music going forward. No more hype, no more gimmicks, just music.
