We are excited to premiere this funky serving of Brazilian boogie from Paris-based Rio raised João Selva. Produced by prolific French producer Patchworks.

“Cadê Você” won us over with it's addictive melody and Brazilian jazz funk vibe recalling Marcos Valle's most popular hits. The upbeat sound masks the less confident question for his absent lover, "cadê você?" or "where are you?"  An excellent doorway into Selva's world of rhythmic, tropicalised soul and funk, at the heart of his 'Navegar' album.

Selva told us that ""Cadê Você" is a funky disco joint. Patchworks and I are absolutely huge fans of Joao Donato, Marcos Valle, Dom Um Romao… and we wanted to pay tribute to them, cause this guys are so underrated. Their US produced album’s are masterpieces, abolishing the frontiers in between jazz fusion, psychedelic pop & Latin music."

We are also excited to share a trippy stop-motion cartoon video from Peter Themoon & Ugo Wuul. A delirious dream voyage inspired by David Lynch’s Lost Highway and Cohen’s Big Lebowsky, the end result feels like a mixture of Monty Python, Miami Vice and Soul Train.

"Cadê Você" is released this Friday March 19, ahead of the full album release, 'Navegar', on April 2nd, on coloured vinyl, CD, digital download and streaming platforms.

Music Is My Sanctuary is excited to share the cinematic, post-rock infused intensity of Waldo’s Gift’s “Bergson”. Taken from forthcoming compilation, "New Horizons; A Bristol Jazz Sound", which provides and excellent and much needed overview of Bristol overlooked but vibrant jazz scene.

Bristolian promoters Worm Disco Club have been championing South-Western talent since their inception in 2014. Having collaborated with Glastonbury Festival on their notorious ‘Wormhole’ stage and hosted the likes of The Comet Is Coming, The Heliocentrics and The Mauskovic Dance Band at their regular club night, the name has become synonymous with quality groove laden goodness, percussive madness, jazz, psych and beyond.

Now proudly presenting their label Worm Discs, the collective recruit some of Bristol’s most notable emerging talent for an exploration into the new wave of Jazz emanating from the city for their debut outing 'New Horizons : A Bristol Jazz Sound' .  An album which channels the seismic energy of the sonically rich landscape into 11 progressive, psychedelic, impeccably crafted tracks.

The Worm Discs team explain: “The idea for this record began back in 2019. We had been curating parties in Bristol featuring jazz acts from around the UK for several years and had just hosted “The Wormhole” at Glastonbury Festival, featuring an all-star line-up from the scene. Having always felt that Bristol’s exciting jazz scene deserved to be heard, the idea for a label was born. We wanted to showcase some individual creativity and open up a space to try something different.”

From the cinematic, post-rock infused intensity of Waldo’s Gift’s “Bergson” to the zen-like, floating melodies of Ishamel Ensemble’s rework of Snazzback’s “Flump” and the angular textures of Run Logan Run’s epic “A Sea Of Apathy And Indifference” - this record is true odyssey from start to finish, for those who really want take a trip down the Wormhole.

No stranger to the label, Munir (AKA Midnight Runners) is one of Southeast Asia’s most unique talents. A deep record collector, he has put his hometown of Bandung, Indonesia on the map with a relentless output of self-released edits drawing on Indonesian funk, Chinese pop, and Middle Eastern psych as source material over the last several years. Equally skilled as a producer, Munir’s signature boogie-funk sounds have graced labels such as Neon Finger, Shaken Palms, and No Bad Days. We’re pleased to unleash Munir’s sounds on Darker Than Wax once again, with a strong sonic step forward from the artist and perhaps his most polished work yet - ‘Circuit Line’.

Blending his signature Boogie sound with Italo-Disco influences, the record brings forth four stylishly crafted modern dancefloor cuts. ‘Circuit Line’ is built on a foundation of reverence to the arpeggiator, driven by neon synth tones racing each other to the finish line. This racing theme defines the record throughout, painting images of classic 80s racing games on standout tracks ‘Finish Line’ and ‘Race Car’. ‘Interlinked’ takes on a more subdued approach, building in intensity and weirdness with each synth line layered on. Showcasing Munir’s prowess with percussion, ‘Pit Stop’ is a feverish club workout rounding out the record as a complete package for the discerning DJ’s arsenal.
