Duke St Block Party

The mystery around the producer/producers known as the Yum Yum Club continues to flourish with a debut E.P. on Sprechen which promises 'Music For The Rave'. Following the track record of a cracking remix for Paper Recordings and the pretty amazing 'An Acid Love Feel Track' which featured Maria Uzor on Sprechen, this first outing is packing excessive 3am  murky basement slammers with a ton of groove & energy that reaches peak face chewing scenes!

Trippy Vocal Track delivers exactly that, a warped up twisted vocal sample wrapped around a twanging style bass with equally as twanging synth stabs alongside fully jacked up percussion & hits that never drops below full throttle!
Equal parts hypnotic - slamming & yes, trippy.

Piano Rave Track does exactly what it says on the rave tin. An absolute HUGE piano sample that's been dug up from warehouse raves of the past that surfs a monsterous bass line complete with hardcore MC asking 'do you understand!?', yes we do indeed...its time to rave!

Closing off the hat trick party is the addition of An Acid Love Feel Track which features Mariz Uzor on vocals. Originally released as part of the Edgy Future Discotheque Vol.3 compilation the track picked up some serious rotation on Radio 1 by Jaguar Worldwide and was hand picked by Jodie Harsh as her Radio 1 'Dance floor Moment'.

Emotional Rescue starts its 5th year by shining a light on one of Europe’s best underground 80s’ label in Spain’s Auxilio De Ciento. Their Terra Incognita Volumes I and II collated an international mix of synth-pop, new wave, world and industrial sounds to a small but appreciative following.  

Released in 1985 and 1986, the Volumes have become highly regarded and rightly sought after, finding a place in discerning playlists from London to Amsterdam and Dusseldorf to Glasgow.  Here, taking a premise of avoiding  the songs unearthed on other recent reissues, is a unique album itself.

Starting with Denis Mpunga & Paul K’s esoteric Criola, a fusion of fourth world ideals and poly-rhythmic funk.  The music of Mal, Bene Gesserit and La Caida De La Casa Usher, however, soon highlight that the decade also belonged to dark, minimal synth as to shiny balearic ideals.  

The inclusion of Hector Zazou with Bony Biyake  and their contribution Komba, is a fitting continuation from their cult Noir Et Blanc LP  before, things continue with US avant-artist Danny Alias and his humorous Big Brother “response” to Laurie Anderson’s Superman O.   

Image Pour Image loose indie-pop and the inclusion of seminal Beast Of Burden lead again to a Zazou contribution, this time in his collaborative Stranger In A New Light, before the compilation eclectically ends with the dadaesque Lakota and the post punk dub of Instead Of’s closer, Angels .

Even though esteemed norwegian DJ Ole Martin Vilberg aka Omar V and Robin Craaford, one half of Dance Disorder with Baby G ( Bpitch, Eskimo ) are hardly young guns, they gang up together for the first time on "complete": a blinding cut that harks back to the time with good ol Jack was still the young buck and closely associated with uncle Electro Funk: tough beats, hyperactive claps, a jittering bass and a catchy, squeaking melody are still rattling bones if masterfully pieced together as it is done here. Owing their foundations to traditional afrobeat (and named after a Fela Kuti song), the Brooklyn-based, female-fronted band, Underground System, has built an international reputation around a seamlessly executed stage show, astonishing wherever they go, and compelling crowds to move with unbridled verve. 

Robbing American “afrobeat” of its derivative formalism, Underground System continues to reinvent their brand of global dance music, remaining a force determined to recreate, redefine, and reconstruct. 

In September 2018 the band released their debut LP What Are You on Soul Clap Records, the much-loved New York City imprint known for their coupling of party-ready DJ culture and shapeshifting live acts. Departing from the extended forms formally associated with Underground System’s live performances and stylistic roots. Hints of afrobeat, no wave, world, electronic, contemporary classical, disco, house, and genre-defying elements combine tightly to reflect a self-aware, edgy, and cohesive statement not currently being made by any other band.

Following up on “What Are You,” Underground System returns to Soul Clap Records with a remix package & music video for their standout single “Just A Place” due out, June 7th. Full of heavy hitters and dancefloor bombs, leading off is Germany’s king of the remix, Gerd Janson, who gives us a powerful 80’s influenced main mix and a stripped back drum tool. From time to time, a new name will appear on the scene with a unique, standout sound that commands people at all levels of the industry to sit up and take notice. Following two sold-out EPs on his vinyl-only imprint, Semi Delicious, UK producer Demi Riquísimo is one such example and on the 9th August he’ll be teaching another lesson on how to ignite the dancefloor with his third release of the year: 54 Reasons EP.

Another four-track, tour-de-force fusion of house, disco and electro, the 54 Reasons EP opens with ‘Bow UFO’ – an upbeat, percussive Disco-fused banger on which Demi gives us a taste of summer by bringing in synthy notes and adding an acidic edge to the track.
