Deeply loveable Parisian label Antinote has been blurring music's lines since their 2012 conception, with the diverse releases that have prospered from their base within the city's 11ème arrondissement walls. Not one given selection from Antinote's vaults has made for dull listening – from Iueke's cassette-only techno and Geena's explosive house, to Syracusee's soda pop and the frank exploration of human fragility in Nico Motte's Life Goes On If You Are Lucky.

Antinote now welcomes back the versatile DJ, producer and experimentalist, D.K. (Dang Khoa Chau), for his second release with the imprint, Island of Dreams. D.K.'s self-ascribed aesthetic influences come from 1980s and 1990s digital culture – Super Nintendo, American teen movies on VHS, Daryl Hall and John Oates on MTV – these of which he transposes into a musical idiom of dated synth melodies, power keyboard chords, tropical drum machine rhythms and raw bass lines. These are exhibited comprehensively on today's Debut, and the only house-y tip of the record, "Raindrops". A feel-good track totally retrospective in nature, "Raindrops" tails off the synthetic, virtu-real world of D.K.'s Island of Dreams with the utmost satisfaction.

Since first catching ear of Germany via Australia convert Jad & The's (Jad Lee) productions thanks to Berlin champions Toy Tonics, the long haired yahoo has continued to impress this writer. Between countless sets and co-managing the ever popular BEATS OF NO NATION, Jad's still got time left over to craft his own audio wizardry.

Today it's a giddy tune by the name of Twist Club. Made up of prominent cowbells, shuttling percussion, whistles and perky key sections, this an all out daytime hammer! Imagine that one friend who's being a bit of a sad sack and not boogieing, this is that tune to get them off their sorry bums and moving! Twist Club doesn't try too hard to be something it's not. A track to warm the heels for what's undoubtedly going to be a long and joyous day of dance.

This number's off the incoming Twist Club EP out through London's FINA Records. FINA have released previous gold from the likes of Saine, Closed Paradise and Paso. Owner Simon Morell and Corbi have one of the best attitudes about what he chooses to press saying "I'm interested in depth, warmth, funk: something I can play in years to come and still think it's ace. I have zero interest in following the trends and signing stuff just because it's Beatport Top 10 fodder."

Simon we wholeheartedly agree! Best get twisting...

In the two years that have passed since they first popped up on the scene, the Waxtefacts crew have presented themselves as a bunch of brilliant beatsmiths with a sixth sense for spot-on samples. If Wolf Music's forty sixth record touched on the burgeoning talent of rising Portuguese star Pedro, this 2019 follow-up delves deep into the accomplished head that rests on those youthful shoulders.
