'Can't Live Without U' is the 1st track I've had the energy to see through to the end since the start of summer. After finishing uni in the spring, I felt pretty burnt out, with the all-too-real "what now" question bouncing around in my head while I tried to figure out what steps to take next. Before I knew it, summer came around, and it was all about jetting off to unreal countries and spinning tracks for beautifully energetic crowds, so ultimately, there was no time between these busy periods to even think about making tunes.

Then, at the end of summer, I had my 1st club gig supporting Roni Size at The Jazz Cafe in Camden. Suddenly, a surge of old-skool junglists started following me, and then I hit 5K on Instagram - I like to mark milestones, achievements, etc, and so to celebrate, I'm spontaneously releasing a track x x

We're proud to present the first listen from the third instalment for La Sape;(SAPE003) is from one of 30/70’s founding fathers. Melbourne bassist, composer and producer Horatio Luna. The left-leaning jazz musician known for boldly experimental compositions moves towards a soulful house sound on Cultural Warriors with a nod to Moodymann.

This record features the innovations of jazz-soul-bap producer/instrumentalists Nap King Cole (Silent Jay x Jace XL), Perrin Moss(Hiatus Kaiyote) and Ziggy Zeitgeist(Zeitgeist Freedom Energy Exchange) who have each, in there own right, re-created and re-invented the ideology of what it means to be a jazz musician in the modern age.

Cultural Warriors came about by accident. A chance recording of a jam session curated in conjunction with Melbourne selector Eddie Mac. Each track has Horatio Luna’s signature organic, lo-fi, loose sound characteristic to a warm personality; chopped and stretched into four grimy, soulful house jams.

From Horatio Luna: “The audio from the desk was raw, dirty and peeking but the ideas were so strong I had to use it... I’m thankful that the genius engineer was MIA most of the night, sleeping in the booth, it made for a beautiful dirty aesthetic. On the gig we took things to the future, playing for hours and just jamming out on what we were feeling... It was like a dream! Completely improvised house music. Serene Favero and Milan Ring came through, as they were out on the town, everything bumped up a level from there!”

The room was empty but for one or two people who hung loosely beside the bar, the dim lighting didn't lend itself to social chit chat but more so business and forward focus. The red leather sofas which lined the walls were old and tattered, they offered up an attempt at some sort of luxurious grandeur but in fact were a glittering example of the failed decline of a struggling empire. No love was to be found within this place, let alone the type you'd like to make with one another. 

LK is set to release a new EP on the record label run by Moxie, On Loop. He delivers three tracks of summer focused house music with a driven focus towards the dancefloor.

The chorus echoed loudly in the sports hall as she prepared to take centre stage. Walking behind the towering felt curtain she felt smaller than ever before as the voice in her head reverberated in circles... "You better give up..." She would not... "You better give up..." She would not. All of a sudden the lights cast a magnificent splash across the room and she was illuminated beneath the fantastic filter of colours. Her mind was racing as she began to move across the floor.

Laroze returns to Flux with a new EP which is set to ignite dancefloors with vigour and pace. The Bordeaux based producer turns his attention to flickering melodies and percussive flutters.
