In a unique mesh, Jawn’s deep house is reminiscent of your favourite boogie and jazz-funk jams, yet remains forward leaning in its hyper modern production style. This meeting of the old and the new provides the perfect atmosphere for guest appearances by legendary jazz vibraphone player Craig Peyton and Westcoast funkateer K-Maxx. Such innovative club music could be mistaken for the musical bastard child of Roy Ayers and Larry Heard. And still, “Highlights” undoubtedly flaunts the multifaceted DNA of Jawn Rice. His subtle use of samples, vibrant keyboard soundscapes and vivid drum programming makes for a special debut. One that, as a track B3 is entitled, will make you “Search Your Feelings”.

Dimensions Recordings’ fifth release sees the label step into the world of the longplayer with Istanbul native, KEREM AKDAG’s self titled debut album. 

Kerem has already been winning fans of the ilk of Gilles Peterson through his previous output of dusty house and tripped out beats in the last few years, and of course via his Getdownsoclose offering on Dimensions’ debut release. His debut album however, sees Kerem deliver a mature piece of work, bright and timeless, equally effective in the club as it is at home and brimming with ideas, hooks and must have songs. 

Across eight tracks Kerem demonstrates a breadth of skills that most artists would work a lifetime to achieve. From the stepping beats of When I Think Of You to his subtle vocal layers on Isolated and from the woozy beach vibes of Sultan to the squelching, rasping synths of Unite it’s clear that there’s very little that’s outside of Kerem’s arsenal. The album rounds out fittingly with Drums Please, which perfectly displays Kerem’s jazz tendencies, a slow grooving track whose crescendo of stabs and drums create a song that’s more powerful than its parts.

Once again, the Melbourne-based quintet have managed to up the ante with their latest single ‘Tempted’.‘Tempted’ simmers with a potent tension unleashed through daring vocals, searing sax hits and frenetic percussion work, all held down by luscious chords and a tighter-than-tight bassline. This is the work of a band at their creative peak. Despite coming in at under four minutes the track manages to meander effortlessly through a breadth of emotions, moods and sonic landscapes.


As the band prepare to embark on an EU tour, ahead of launching their most accomplished and promising body of work to date, their progress in just a few short years hits home. From our first encounters at one of the earliest gigs in a cosy Melbourne basement with a handful of people in attendance, to selling out some of the city’s most prominent music venues, 30/70 have undeniably blossomed, but their journey is far from over. ‘Tempted’ seems aptly named for a teaser single that draws you in and leaves you wanting more from a hotly anticipated album. It was love at first sight for us - are you tempted?

Rhythm Section are proud to welcome London based production duo The Colours That Rise to their ranks with their newest single “Home Time”.

Comprised of producer duo Simeon Jones and Nathanael Williams, The Colours That Rise have previously turned heads with 2017’s “2020” EP released on Breaker Breaker (the label credited with breaking Ross From Friends).

Broadcasting signals from the darkest corners of the solar system, “Home Time” is heady brew of crisp, driving drums, psychedelic electronics and cruising synth lines. Full of atmospheric textures and cosmic soundscapes the track provides a taster of what’s to come in earth’s not too distant dystopian future.
