Ever since Oakland's Space Ghost released his LP "Endless Light" to the world, we've been hooked on his unique blend of Lo-Fi House / Boogie which is perfect for both the party and headphone use. We asked Space Ghost to create a mix of what he's been really digging lately and he swiftly presented this mix formally titled "Love Is A Mystery".

"This mix holds some heavy inspiration to me lately in terms of production, genres, feelings, and eras. Expect some early Deep House, a couple of contemporary jams, obscure Boogie, and some secret '90s R&B. In terms of House music, lately I’ve been diving more into the catalogues of Larry Heard and The Burrell Brothers as well as other similar artists. I’ve increasingly become more inspired by the gritty quality of their early productions and I’m looking to harness that deep raw emotion in my own music. The second half of the mix has some odd and obscure tracks I’ve found along the way on the internet and in other DJ mixes. They’re the kind of tracks I hear in a mix and immediately think, “I neeeeed to find out what this song is!” All the tunes in this mix have such amazing unique production as well as this unexplainable deep vibe about them, I hope you can feel it!"

We were surprised to find out he is Vienna based as his music brings so many warm tropical flavours! We then realised his shack must face towards the sun as this mix is nothing but sunshine to our ears! It's well worth checking his page for further tropical excursions.

A few years back, my friend Otis did a mixtape called ‘a time for peace’. It’s an effortless mix of melodic & vocally driven music which became a source of some of my favourite records that I was yet to discover. There was never a tracklist for it, but over the years, have found them serendipitously in record shops and had a few joyful moments when finally the needle drops on one of the tracks from this mix!
The past week has given me an opportunity to reflect on some of the records that I return to constantly, can get lost in & consider something else for a while. I hope that perhaps someone out there might find something in here that opens their ears to something new, can get lost in and one day have that needle drop moment too! Thanks to everyone who put me onto these records in one way or another.

For the 'Drift Podcast series', we have chosen to steer away from Brazilian and African music in favour of gospel, soul, disco, and funk. To keep things raw and authentic we didn't plan the mix, instead we both turned up with a bag of old records, played things by ear, and recorded the mix live in one take.
