This is my first song for this year's 50/90 songwriting challenge! (https://fiftyninety.fawm.org/)

I've been thinking about little ones leaving the nest quite a lot recently. My kids are 10 and 7, so not imminent, but it still makes me feel a tiny bit sad (and a tiny bit relieved). I certainly know others with kids who are closer to that point, so this one's for them 🙂

When I'd finished my bits on the track, it felt like it was still missing a little something. So I sent it over to my man @nahlejmusic for some sweet percussive magic and, as always, he promptly delivered the goods. Thank you!

sometimes I think that maybe it was a mistake to use the name Pa' Shot The Canary, but it's a bit like when you tell a little white lie, it spirals out of control, you get in too deep and then it all becomes irreversible and you are stuck with it. This is Me trying to kill him, in a nice way though. 

Anyway, thanks a lot for all the support of my music, SoundCloud is a wonderful community, it feels like the talent on here has just skyrocketed since covid, the standard is crazy, and always a pleasure to hear.

Does This One Sound Like Me

Thanks, Tobias & Marc, for this fun assignment!

My process in a nutshell: Using two instances of Ableton's Sampler loaded with my guitar recordings, I sequenced the provided "John Cage" chord, using the first version of Marc's MIDI file, so it's actually the wrong Cage chord --- hence the title "noncage". 
With some pushing around of this source material, a slow-morphing, overlapping atmospheric track fell into place. 
To top it all off, I just flipped the whole thing, turning it into a lovely background echoey backwards guitar concoction. 
So as to make things more listenable, I provided a little bit of supplementary fodder and smoothed out some of the rougher edges in Cubase.

I love listening to & creating Ambient, Dark Ambient & Experimental electronica (and the occasional beatscape). I have no professional aspirations  - I just really like creating music / manipulating sounds. It's my way of relaxing after a hard day at the office. All my tracks are produced using monitoring headphones (Sennheiser HD 280 Pro) so I recommend that you listen to my music through headphones. My DAW of choice is FL Studio. I also use Reason every now & then. 


To the artists I follow; I do my best to try to listen to as many of your tracks as possible each night (I listen to each track all the way through - you went through the effort to create a track so you deserve to have it heard in full). If I miss a recent upload of yours, please forgive me...
