Standard Deviation is a newly formed, multidisciplinary label, working on the intersection of music, art and publishing operating from Kyiv, Ukraine. It aims to foster collaborative intercultural exchange between Ukraine and the world. Standard Deviation releases conceptual electronic music and challenges creative practices, narratives and media technologies on the broad contemporary field.

Premiere: Nene H ‘Unbroken Flow Of Words And Tears’

Within Kyiv's raging rave scene, club ∄ is an integral meeting point for non-binary and gender non-conforming folks with the club providing a much need safe space; it's name '∄' is a mathematics symbol meaning 'there does not exist'. The epicentre of intersectionality in Kyiv, ∄ recently announced the launch of a new multi-disciplinary platform and label, Standard Deviation, that brings together all of the wider sentiments surrounding the club and amplifying this via the publication of music and visual art.

The debut release features one of Kyiv's shining lights, Poly Chain alongside Copenhagen-via-Berlin breakout techno queen, Nene H. Poly Chain's 'Jerry' is markedly deep. Pairing lean kicks with licks of EBM, bubbling tear-jerking synths dance with gritty, unrelenting dissonance in the mid-range. Altogether, 'Jerry' transports us directly to the heartland of '∄', marrying a sense of unwinding chaos and boundless love.

∄ is a cultural institution in Kyiv, established in 2019 on the territory of a former brewery, located at 41 Kyrylivska Street. It serves as a multifunctional space for club events like ∄ Community Events, Curated By, Enareї, for experimental music concerts like Miasma of the Real and other cultural events.

∄ also manages the in-house music label Standard Deviation. Established in September 2020, Standard Deviation is a multidisciplinary label for music, art and publishing, cultivating creative exchange between an aspiring Ukrainian scene and a global community.

K41 is the community-born name of the institution embraced and widely used by the public.
