Standby Empire are an electronic music trio from Brisbane, Australia. Known for their catchy, atmospheric songs, the band is made up of frontman Tom Wensley, bassist Josh Beattie and drummer Jimmy Fitz. Standby Empire won the electronic music category at the Queensland Music Awards in 2016 with their first single 'Tenderness' which received much praise from local media including community radio stations 4ZZZ and Triple J Unearthed, and as well as thousands of plays online on Youtube and Soundcloud.

The band takes inspiration from artists such as Asgier, Alt J and the Kite String Tangle. Following their success, the band scored festival spots at the Townsville Cultural Festival and were the headline act at the 2017 Newkind festival.

2018 sees Standby Empire releasing a body of new material followed by live performances in celebration.
