Inevitably armed with a chorus&amp;3 verses over his home cooked beat,this is typical Tone..off the top,self assigned&amp;timeless.
Although an awful mix on the desk,his zeal is still evident with words precise&amp;flow untouched.

D'cypher - Real Thing feat.Tones(2000)

Recorded late 2010 summer during the OVERTIME EP studio sessions with Ikona, this idea draft ended up being discarded due to it’s lyrics & potential untimely association to the event that was, the Christchurch NZ earthquake (22/02/11) which sadly changed the lives of many & shocked a nation.
The song concept was originally about crooked schemes & man-made things (financially, morally etc.) represented at the time & rising above, among other things.
But with metaphors & similes that could be misinterpreted as natural disasters, ultimately decided not to finish & include on the EP released later that year. ‘Blackprint’ would eventually be replaced with another track titled ‘End Trails’ also produced by good friend & artist from Slovakia, Ikona. His unique & unorthodox style helped with experiments musically & lyrically which all Emcee’s need, to hone & improve their craft whilst getting out of their comfort zones.
This snippet & idea was never meant to see the light of day & only now reminded of such an unusual set of circumstances for a group decision, when finding this lost version.
Nevertheless, a piece of our journey & an opportunity again to thank everyone involved in OVERTIME for their love & input.
With everything going on at the time, words wont describe the appreciation of friends that rallied around for support including Andy Mugzee, Sacha Katipo & Richie Dnator -who all shared the production & helped to construct the final collection.
Finally love & respects out to all the families who lost loved one’s in Christchurch’s never to be forgotten day.
