Once upon a time, a young 19-year-old me from a small town in Tennessee fell madly in lust with a gorgeous exchange student from Paris, France. I drank Miller Lite; he introduced me to fancy wine. I waited tables; he came from money. I had never been West of the Mississippi River; he had been all over the world. I was smitten. I never felt good enough for him though and he was always going to go back to Paris in the end. This song came years after he left, but he was such a good creative inspiration for me that I couldn't not write a song about him. Even after all of that, we’re still great friends to this day. A few months ago, he actually came back to visit and took me to that French restaurant, Once Upon A Time. I tried snails for the first time and loved them, but then I got sick off of the fancy wine and threw up in the bathroom.
