Son sourire, radieux, est serti d’un strass en forme de cœur, « galbi » en arabe ». Sur Yallah Bye Bye, son premier album, il chante l’amour mais aussi le cycle perpétuel de séparations et de retrouvailles qui façonne la vie de ceux qui ont plusieurs foyers. Ensemble, on va jouer à un jeu des 7 familles revisité !

Ce n’est pas à Lausanne où il est né, ni à Casablanca où il a vécu, que nous rencontrons Sami Galbi, mais dans autre ville portuaire qu’il affectionne tout particulièrement (et nous aussi) : Marseille !

Marseille qui, chaque année, au début de printemps, devient l’épicentre économique et culturel des musiques planétaires grâce au Babel Music XP. Un salon dédié au professionnels de la filière musicale du monde entier, mais également un festival ouvert au grand public où le trentenaire va présenter son premier album.

Rai, chaâbi, trap, dub, hip-hop, bass music, il y a tout ça dans cet album de musiques à danser qui oscille entre hymnes taillés pour les dancefloor et morceaux plus oniriques teintés d’acid pop.

Ce premier album a pour titre Yallah Bye Bye, une expression courante au Moyen-Orient et en Afrique du Nord qui signifie « On y va » ou « à plus ».

Une allusion à l’élan du départ qui a conduit Sami Galbi à embarquer son studio dans son van pour rouler de Lausanne à Casablanca. Et donc des rives suisses du Lac Léman, à la côte Atlantique du Maroc où, en 2023, il a posé les premières bases de cet album.


En darija, l'arabe dialectal marocain, un darija 2.0, entendez de la diaspora, Sami Galbi chante l’amour mais aussi le cycle perpétuel de séparations et de retrouvailles qui façonne la vie de ceux qui ont plusieurs foyers.

De foyers, de famille, de communauté, ce qui nous lie, nous définis, c’est tout de ça dont on va converser en toute intimité avec un artiste généreux, à la ville comme à la scène.

Son sourire, radieux, est serti d’un strass en forme de cœur, « galbi » en arabe ». Son doux regard, est souligné d’un léger trait de crayon noir. Sa coupe, undercut, est presque punk.

Tout vêtu de blanc, Sami Galbi est attablé à mes côtés dans les bureaux du Dock des Suds : un ancien hangar portuaire, devenu un lieu mythique de la vie nocturne et musical marseillaise où, dans quelques heures, il fera chavira non cœurs….
