description: Rough, raw, and without sincerity, "take a step back from your phone.//," is a lesson disguised as an instruction; touching on the personal troubles one can have when attempting to differentiate themselves amongst a sea of social media influencers and successful peers/friends. Written and recorded within a day during the Summer of 2022, and using reflections and observations from my first year at NYU, "take a step back from your phone.//," is a perfect time-capsule, or journal, of sorts, that fits perfectly into the My Friend Shawn timeline and solidifies my art with standby pieces capable of holding their own.
