Sekhmet, one of the oldest Egyptian deities, is the Egyptian Goddess of the sun, destruction, war, sickness, and healing. Her name is derived from the Egyptian word “Sekhem” which means “power” or “might." She is shown as a lion-headed woman, sometimes with the addition of a sun disc on her head. She is said to have created the desert with her breath.

She was associated with the goddesses given the title “Eye of Ra.” According to legend, Ra became angry because mankind was not following justice and balance. He plucked Hathor from Ureas on his brow, and sent Sekhmet to earth in the form of a lion, where she started her rampage. The fields and Nile ran with human blood. However, Ra was not a cruel deity, the sight of the carnage caused him to change his mind. He ordered Sekhmet to stop, but she would not listen. So Ra poured 7,000 jugs of beer and pomegranate juice, which stained the beer blood red, in her path. Sekhmet gorged on the “blood” and became so drunk she slept for three days. When she awoke, she had forgotten her rage, so humanity was saved.

The saving of mankind was commemorated every year on the feast day of Hathor/Sekhmet. Everyone drank beer stained with pomegranate juice and worshipped “the Mistress and lady of the tomb, gracious one, destroyer of rebellion, mighty one of enchantments.”

“In stories of Greek Mythology, The Oneiroi were primordial deities, children of Nyx (night), and had numerous siblings, including Hypnos (sleep), and Thanatos. (death). They were the personifications of dreams, coming from the caverns of Erebos, the land of eternal darkness beyond the rising sun, the Oneroi pass through one of two gates. The first of these, made of horn, is the source of prophetic god-sent dreams, while the other, constructed of ivory, is the source of dreams which are false and without meaning. According to some, the leader of the Oneiroi is Morpheus, a god who appears in the dreams of kings in the guise of a man bearing messages from the gods.”

The symbiotic relationship between sleep and waking states is often understated in modern society. When cultivating a connection with dream realms, we can unlock keys and messages from past, present and future. Oneiros Project plays with the concept of the blurred line between dreams and reality. Visions and experiences beyond common explanation are used to fuel creativity. Inspired by the moon, the sun and the stars, the way light shines upon the trees, the water and the earth. There is much to be in awe and reverence of.

Always passionate about music, playing piano and collecting many styles of sound, it was in his mid teens that Lyle Rhodes first discovered electronic music gatherings. After many parties and many hours on the dance floor and as a DJ, he has now dedicated himself to electronic music production.

With a degree in Media and Performing Arts from Massachusetts College of Art, DJ Goldilox aka Goldie Sirois began her music career in the Industrial band D.D.T. in Boston back in 1991. This is the same Goldilox that started out her dj persona playing drum and bass at Sister SF in 1997, and has been DJing around the world ever since, with recent gigs in Egypt, Ireland, Mexico, Guatemala, California, and Oregon. Her and husband DJ Aluxes/Kukulkan organized Star Camp Shasta Festival with StarSeed Events/Soundsystem.
