The Circle of Drums EP continues on the same dancefloor-centric route that Jex travelled down with his past few releases. "Circle of Drums" itself is a rolling "tribal-not-tribal" heater, featuring some of the most arousing digi-flute lines ever committed to tape. The whole release is a surefire way of keeping warm until the sun returns.

It's not just the festive season that has Mikal feeling generous however; the Bristol producer has recently put the finishing touches to his debut album Wilderness. Set for release early next year via Metalheadz, the 16-track LP promises more of the signature Mikal sound, and features collaborations with Break, Xtrah, Sophie Barker (Zero 7), RIOT (Buraka Som Sistema) and Chimpo.

Mikal is the "the silent assassin of the Headz camp," according to label boss Goldie.  "When I signed him I knew the potential he had in him - this album is the full realisation of that potential. He's worked very hard at perfecting his craft and I'm very happy to hear it. His inversion of DnB culture has always excited me, the dub element is something that resonates with me as a missing part to the puzzle in the Headz camp."

Wilderness is set to drop February 5th with a 3-track sampler preceding it on January 8th (pre-order here). In the meantime you can download grubby, halftime steppa 'Dub Machine' for free to keep you going over the holidays!

Mesmera is an album of ambient/downtempo pieces by UK-based musician & producer Adam Fielding, written and recorded between 2016 - 2018.

Since the release of his first album, Adam Fielding has experimented with a wide variety of genres ranging from ambient to IDM, post-rock to synth-pop, and everything in-between. Mesmera sees Fielding taking on a renewed exploration of downtempo ambience, mixing organic and electronic instrumentation with a heavy focus on deep atmospheres and cinematic moods.

Mesmera is a representation of a daunting-yet-deeply rewarding journey, following themes of exploration, reflection, and imagination. Launching from the energetic expanse of Standing On The Precipice, the journey travels through celebrations of the unknown in Everything Felt New, deep introspection in the title track, through to freedom from the past in You Have To Let Go.

With Mesmera, Fielding playfully mixes the familiar with the unknown, crafting a unique album that is sure to be a rewarding listening for ambient & electronic music lovers.

Bio:

Immersed in the synth-pop and electronica of the Eighties growing up in southern England, State Azure (b. 1972) found early inspiration in Jean-Michel Jarre, Tangerine Dream, and Vangelis. Deconstructing their tracks ignited his passion, leading him to develop a foundational understanding of electronic music theory, composition and production entirely by ear and experimentation.

He honed his skills as a keyboardist and producer within live bands before venturing into solo ambient/experimental territory. This self-taught journey fostered a deeply improvisational and emotional approach, free from the confines of formal training.

State Azure's sonic world is further shaped by influences beyond music, drawing heavily from science fiction, cosmology, physics, and technology.

Seizing the opportunity presented by the burgeoning online music scene, he launched the State Azure project to connect directly with listeners, debuting with the album 'Outlines' in December 2011.
