Amidst the rugged mountains and sweeping valleys of South Africa’s Western Cape, a unique tale unfolds. 

“Forgotten Fynbos” 


This Various Artist album compiled by ZDLCK started as a concept in early 2023, and has blossomed into an unstoppable force of nature.  

Here, the enchanting world of fynbos, a diverse floral kingdom, converges with organic rhythms. As the sun rises over the ancient land, delicate indigenous blooms sway to an unheard melody, their vibrant colors a visual symphony that harmonizes with the energy of the earth. In this wild expanse, a group of visionary artists find inspiration. They immerse themselves in the secret life of fynbos, capturing it's essence through textures that mimic the whisper of winds through shrubs and the dance of insects among the petals. Each track mirrors an integral part of the ever so intricate ecosystem, from the serene valleys to the high peaks. 

This album is a sensorial journey. A sonic translation of the fynbos spirit, inviting listeners to dance to the rhythm of nature's vibrations and join in celebrating South African indigenous flora. 

This release, like our incredible indigenous flora, is very special in more aspects than just the music. As most of us South Africans know, our mountains have been ravaged by fires in recent years. This takes a lot of resources and effort on the part of fire fighters to keep us safe and the fires contained. The funds raised from support for this VA will be donated directly to the Volunteer Wildfire Services to assist them in being able to combat any future fires.

These two were once foes, battling it out over Facebook threads. Years passed and they realized, they may have more in common than they thought. Now after all the quarrels, these two have become like family and they joined forces and orchestrated the Easter Vortex dancefloor in the early AMs.

Profound and Killawatt are known for their unique blend of driving basslines, pulsing synths, and intricate percussion, and this set was no exception. From start to finish, they took the dancefloor on a journey through the darker corners of psychedelic music, with a sound that was both futuristic and nostalgic.

Wavy Gravy is the DJ/Production alias of Matt Oppermann from Stellenbosch, South Africa, After spending a decade immersing himself in the local electronic music scene, traversing multiple genres and subgenres and developing a listeners ear for the music, he found the genre's that called to him most in IDM, Glitch Hop, Drum n Bass and Psytrance.

Matt likes understated, nuanced elements in his music selections, blurring genre boundaries and finding niche tracks that incorporate unusual elements and sound design that would not be commonplace within the genre.
