Inspired by the short story "The Brick Moon," the first tale of a man-made satellite or space station, "A Brick Moon," combines a driving beat reminiscent of The Chemical Brothers with an experimental blend of real and synthetic sounds.

The track opens with a figure shared by a piano and a Roland 303, which then takes the lead in a squelchy, turntablist-like solo. For the chorus, the piano and bass unite in an undulating riff, contrasting a massive cascading bass synth line and a soaring trumpet. Strings lead the second verse, and the final verse showcases a haunting call and response between the piano and strings.
