Hypnotic Techno /  Deep Techno from Spain / Portugal / a few french

Born and raised in Rome, Luigi Tozzi is undoubtedly one of the most prolific and outstanding talents of his generation to come out of Italy. Slip into any record store worth its salt, or clubs from Tbilisi to Lisbon and you’ll find traces of his work there; his signature sound has sold its share of records true, but also deeply influenced the work of many of his contemporaries. His expansive compositions intimately tied to the space they’re heard in, circling in perfect arcs below the water’s surface, where sunlight becomes scarce and a connection with sound paramount. Reformulating not only dub. techno and ambient, but a trove of memories diving off the coast of Sicily’s neighbour Salina (and with the help of analog digital tools, VSTs and controllers during live performances), Tozzi has developed a mastery for hypnotic rhythms like nothing you’ve heard before. His close working relationship with Swedish output Hypnus, as well as Outis and Non-Series have pushed his aquatic sound to it’s absolute limit, creating a world of poignant textures that have given his genre the gift of new horizons. Here he visits the Podcast for an epic 128 minutes that delve into his abyssal world, haunting rumbles and immersive techno, a ghostly, shimmering live-set recorded at Bassiani.

Starting his DJ career in New York, Junya Yamamura is now actively performing across various venues in Tokyo’s underground scene. Reka Zalan is a Berlin based DJ, who is deeply embedded in the DNA of Berlin's landscape - as a Tresor resident since 2023, a Hard Wax staffer and a member of the Coppi collective. She has laid down her powerful and psychedelic grooves at legendary institutions like Berghain, Vault Sessions, Fusion Festival, Ankali and more.  

The mix dives into the depths of atmospheric, cavernous techno before propelling into the expanse of hyperspace as it builds with speed and intensity. A consistent thread of dense psychedelia is seamlessly woven throughout the entire session - an odyssey for those deep cerebral synapses. The mix moves forward, outward, and inward, balancing tension and flow - a voyage of duality: it’s both grounding and mind-bending, accelerating yet perfectly controlled. Tatsuya Kanamori goes by the name DJ Shufflemaster, a veteran driver for rolling hard-groove still going strong after three long decades. In his native Japan (around the time names like Takaaki Itoh and DJ Nobu were on the rise), his earliest ventures were closely tied to the work of Tokyo’s Subvoice, dynamic techno through and through. His arrival in Europe coincided with his 17 track debut album on Tresor Records, EXP (rereleased 2023), and proved his mettle as one of Tokyo’s best and brightest exports. Earmarked by talents like Ben Sims and Cari Lekebusch, those sounds became a staple for those in the know. 2014 saw his proprietor run label Shiki Kyokai kick into gear with a number of EPs, ruthless, iron-willed techno for the small hours, and a recent addition alongside Tensal, Pergo and Eduardo de la Calle has renewed his star for 2025 as well. Pluralistic and shrewd in their vision, his vaulting basslines flutter headlong into surging incarnations of the same wind he’s been riding since before the new millennium. With a spate of recent interest in the minimal styles of his starting decade, his work has found a new resonance among fans both at home and abroad. DJ Shufflemaster and his techno are keeping on rolling to the rhythm of his breakneck sounds. Thirst for economic revenge

Chiming in for Bassiani’s anniversary party on October 10th comes an exceptional talent from the Asturian coast and Architectural’s third appearance in the Podcast series. Since 2004, Juan Rico’s been holding the line as Reeko, a stand-in for blistering industrial rhythms, founder of Mental Disorder and founding partner of Spanish techno bastion PoleGroup. Come 2010, a new incarnation emerged under the stage name Architectural, a faceless and assumedly authorless variant of his that played on rich textures, cinematic tones and a heavier focus on the architecture of sound itself. In the studio he manipulates and records sounds in real time, allowing for a greater degree of spontaneity than working with standalone parts would otherwise permit. No longer incognito, Architectural offers a brand of ambient techno charged through with Jazz and references from the world of film that pulsates and slithers, crackles and shifts. From his earliest releases on his eponymous Architectural imprint, through Semantica, Non Series and others, his music has established itself as a touchstone for avant-garde techno centred on body and dancefloor, and his future’s sure to keep delivering more of his monolith beats. Bassiani Podcast 287 is a truly impressive addition to the series, a sweeping three-hour montage of gritty textures, modulated frequencies and punchy basslines recorded live at Bassiani.

Agnosia, a duo formed by Eric and Miguel, producers with a long way behind the decks and productions.  Started on music scene 7 years ago, My Bloody Valentine, Joy Division, Slowdive or Explosions in the sky are some of the inspirations of his personal “vision” of music. Now, with this project, they want to explore the atmospheric side of music.  Always walking between techno, shoegaze or post-rock, they started to produce 5 years ago, trying to show his personal way of music.

The music of Agnosia wants to innovate in the techno fields, adding some new ways with new elements and architectures in the compositions they do. Progressive to the end tracks, forcefulness and deep kicks and basslines, and some guitar distortions and effects to made epic the melodies they build.
Now, they have published his first Album on Dust REC. “Motion and Emotion”, focused in the experimentation with drones, textures and atmospheres but mixed with really forcefulness hypnotic grooves they will drive us crazy. 

"What’s happening? It's warm inside... She told me a reason, a reason to live. 

Where are my echoes? The rainfall from my friends, the pain fades into atmospheres, the void it’s comfortable, and me... I’m losing my head."

Born in Spain, Juan Rico is a DJ who has rapidly attained the recognition other artists have taken a long time to gain. He marks his birth as a DJ about 1997, but it wasn’t until his first release in 2002 under the Swedish label Emergence that he became known professionally.  He has shown his quality skills recording for emerging imprints like Pole Recordings, Wolfskuil Records, and his very own Architectural label. 

The set, nearly two hours long was recorded at Bassiani as part of the Wolfskuil Records Night. It's a well-executed mix that focuses especially on the dark, ambient textures, crosscut with hints of hypnotic Dub techno. 
Displaying his impeccable taste in music, Architectural crosses varied musical fields, offers deep and adventurous mix contrasted with dancefloor edge.
