Listen to our selection of tracks taken from the new 2CD set, compiling the work of Can founder Irmin Schmidt’s solo and soundtrack work, including two unreleased Can remixes.

CD1 is a compilation of Irmin Schmidt’s extensive work as a solo artist over the past 30 years, whilst CD2 - compiled and presented by long-term collaborator Wim Wenders, is an insight into Schmidt's vast work as a composer for film and television for which Wenders has also written the sleeve notes.

The two CD compilation includes tracks such as Villa Wunderbar, Kick On The Floods and Bohemian Step, alongside unreleased remixes by Schmidt of two Can tracks, Alice and Last Night Sleep.

2 December 2013 will see the long-awaited release of the Can back catalogue, remastered on vinyl for the very first time. All 14 albums, including Out Of Reach and an exclusive live bonus album, will be released on 180g vinyl in a box set alongside original posters and artwork.

Here we are! Back for the second volume of Back from the Canigó ! In the same spirit as Back from the Grave, our goal is to look back at what happened in the South of France near Perpignan at the beginning of the 21st century.
 As you can hear it in the first volume, the city of Perpignan (and its region, Northern Catalonia) has been a strong place for underground rock'n'roll for many years. In the 90’s, there were a lot of garage bands and an important mods community. These guys created a spirit in the city that’s still present today.

Heratius could be described as like a mix of Etron Fou Leloublan and Faust (in acoustic mode that is), with hints of Albert Marcoeur, Red Noise, in a music that is full of invention with typically French eccentric touches. This double LP features the studio album Les Boniments (1979) - never before released on vinyl - and the first ever vinyl reissue of Gwendolyne (1978).

Founded in 2010, on the ashes of Los Santos, an ultra-local band well recognized by the veterans of the Perpignan scene, The Hands is a quartet with its roots as much in the modern garage scene of the mid-2000s (like Jack Of Heart, Movie Star Junkies or The Intelligence) as in more classic groups such as the Gun Club, Joy Division or Syd Barrett's Pink Floyd.
After two self-produced albums, "On The Words" (2014) and "We Are Other Men" (2016) and a few European tours, their third album, "Reflections", finally arrives in 2022 after six years of absence.
Recorded by their friend Renaud Picard (Crank, Hair & The Iotas), mixed by Briane Blanc (the band's singer) and mastered by Luis Mazzoni at Vintage Sound Studio, this third album is perhaps their mostly anticipated and surely their best so far.
Alternating between heady tracks like "Thanks" or "In The Middle“ and softer songs like "We Are So Lame“ and "Seven Years“, the group reveals their real identity throughout the ten songs of this album. As always self-produced for their own label Broken Arm Records, "Reflections“ will be released in collaboration with Staubgold and Cougouyou Music.

The Lo Yo Yo’s only album from 1985 for the first time reissued on vinyl. Featuring Mick Hobbs (The Work, Half Japanese) and Alig Fodder (Family Fodder), produced by Charles Bullen (This Heat). Limited to 500 copies worldwide.
The Lo Yo Yo was founded in 1984 by Family Fodder’s John Pearce, aka Alig Fodder. They were active for two years and released one cassette, one split cassette with French band Look De Bouk and one full-length LP.

Formed in Perpignan in the South of France in 2019, Minerves emerge with the furious longing to reshape the sound landscapes of a certain adolescence that received the bursts of Velvet Underground, the mysterious revelations of the early Pixies, the tormented verses of Sonic Youth.

Nurtured by pop psych garage and 90s post punk, the four Minerves wake up at dusk and attempt a naive, nocturnal and hungry topology of rock'n'roll. Produced by Briane Santo B., the tireles preacher of Perpignan garage, Minerves' first eponymous album is released by Staubgold and its French subsidiary Cougouyou Music.

Perpignan Burning: the Southern French capital of garage rock in search of the riff. Or as Lou Reed would put it: „You can’t beat two guitars, bass, and drums.“ Content: 27 previously unreleased tracks on the double LP and six digital-only bonus tracks. 

All tracks on this compilation were recorded in or around Perpignan, France, and go to the musical extremes of an extreme city. Whether garage punks or freakbeat mods, country punks or city rockers, whether pioneers or new to the scene: the only thing that counts is the riff.

Pascal Comelade, infamous riff explorer since the 1970s, is the unlikely godfather of this bunch of punks and rockers. He opens the trip with his emblematic cover design and closes it with his own Riffifi orchestra to the ultimate riff of The Stooges’ „I Wanna Be Your Dog“.

Akşak is the exciting encounter of two exceptional musicians from different generations: legendary drummer Jaki Liebezeit (Can, Depeche Mode, Chet Baker) and percussion wizard Holger Mertin (Drums And More). Like a zen master of the minimal, repetitive beat, Liebezeit - famous for his hypnotic precision -  creates with only few sound colours the perfect matrix for Mertin’s unleashed playing on any imaginable percussion instrument. The result is a mighty, complex pulse - the groove of a better world.

On the basis of that musical matrix, sound magician Joseph Suchy has produced a jaw-dropping album which defies any categorization. Even if other instruments like violin, guitar, brass or electronics sometimes seem to take the lead, the compelling pulse is always in the center of this swinging music. Liebezeit, Mertin and Suchy have created a timeless masterpiece which despite its complexity always stays melodic and danceable. That’s how modernity sounds (and swings) !

Imagine a road trip aboard a beautiful American convertible, the landscape passes by and you can hear this warm Sixties soundtrack of Santa Maria Death Trip somewhere between the surf rock of La Luz, the sunny pop of Allah-Las and the psychedelic garage sound of their Perpignan fellows The Limiñanas.
After two EPs, critically acclaimed by the French specialized press like Rock & Folk and Rolling Stone, here is their first full-length album «Lili’s Garden», released on Staubgold/Cougouyou Music in 2025.

Nu:Logic is a collaborative partnership between Hospital signings Nu:Tone and Logistics. The two brothers, Dan and Matt Gresham, first joined forces under this new alias in the mid noughties, with the first Nu:Logic release "On & On" appearing on Hospital in 2004. The project went on the back burner until 2010 when they released their "New Technique" EP to great critical acclaim.

The pair combine the music that they love - music with soul, atmosphere, tension and groove - together into one melting pot of sound. Whilst growing up they were exposed to the same music, but quickly found their tastes diverging. However now they are older, these have moved closer together again and at the core is a shared love of artists such as DJ Shadow, DJ Krush, MoWax, Full Cycle, Heaz, No U Turn, Jazzanova and Calibre.

With nine individual albums between them and their debut Nu:Logic album "What I've Always Waited For" released in 2013 which has been making waves in the D&B scene and beyond, it is now time for their new album "Somewhere Between The Light" which is due out in June this year.
