Description: 
@alsolquema (AR-DE) is a visual livecoder that builds identity through feedback loops. She writes programs (in GLSL) that run on the GPU, and design systems for those programs to run in. For the Solstice 2023 performance she will use a self-made environment to make samples (small recordings) of @staxl’s screen and her own screen, composing and mixing them by writing GLSL code. @staxl (DE) will perform some snippets from his current live set, creating unpredictable rhythms with TidalCycles and triggering sounds from his Ableton project resulting in a maximalist mass of digital sounds and noises.

This is an edit of a recording of a livecoding thing I did at Kunstraum D21 in Leipzig as part of their exhibition "Anybody out there?! 100 Jahre Radio in Deutschland" with the tool TidalCycles (by @yaxu). Check @soundartlab for other recordings and interviews that were part of the programme—it's worth it!
I prepared most of the code already beforehand and basically just played around with the parameters, 'cause I'm not so deft in TidalCycles yet to do everything from scratch and 'cause it was more to showcase what you can do with TidalCycles and not meant to be an artistic "performance" proper. 
What you hear is mostly based on the default generators and samples that come with TidalCycles/Dirt when you install it, though I included some custom samples from my Alesis HR16A drum machine, a Simmons SDS1 sound library tape, the videogame Portal, the ❤️ @galentipton ❤️ sample pack and a few more things I forgot.

After SOPHIE's sudden death on Jan 30, 2021 I revisited some of my favourite tracks of hers, took my wimpy mixing and editing and my advanced filesharing skills and did this quick little mix. It was a fun and time heartbreaking thing; for one it's so nice to see how many people got inspired by SOPHIE's music and art. On the other hand, it's so sad that it's over now. But the music lives on, I guess (even if only as 128k SC streams or YT vids partly), and the spirit as well. And isn't it an amazing thing that you can create and transmit all these musical emotions through digital software? It definitely opened up a whole new world for me. Of course it's not always dead serious and profound tropes that you find in SOPHIE's music, but also cheesy, tongue-in-cheek and ironic. Still, the emotions her music evokes in me are really real, aren't they?
