Slave To Society is the new solo project of Andrew Bowen one half of AnD & #Shadows.
Heavy with noise and distortion, “Slave To Society” is a dirty, furious blend of industrial and hardcore, where relentless beats layer over hermetic abstractions and give way to raw tension. 
Bowen’s new project takes his confrontational experiments to another level, and so does his mix for our series, full of enigmatic, quirky tunes.

FUSE17 - 7XINS (FOLD)

The 17th edition of our FUSE series comes courtesy of Ben Short aka 7XINS (FOLD). 7XINS is predominantly a producer and live electronic music performer, concentrating on a manipulation of machinery and hardware. Residing from a post-industrial town in South Wales, with a background in mechanical engineering and electronics, Ben's transition into audio electronics was a natural one, having developed a healthy obsession with machines and the intricacies of sound since his early discovery of Hard House and Rave culture. 

Now heavily involved in London’s Techno scene and holding down a residency as a live performer at our mecca; the infamous 24-hour club, FOLD London, Ben has made a rich analogous sound with a strong sense of depth with immersive atmosphere his trademark. Ben's well crafted productions have also gained plenty of notoriety in recent years, the latest of which forthcoming in July via legendary London based label; LDNwht.

An overall legend and one of the soundest guys in the scene, we are blessed to have worked so closely with Ben since we made our home at FOLD in 2019 and we are proud to bring you his masterclass of a DJ set, made exclusively for Natural Selection.

Raw Cuts vol.1 is the first of my HardCoded Beta series. 

These are raw, live recordings, taken direct from my modular system. System tests, fresh electronics, live machine jams and late night experimentation recorded over the last 3 years. 

This is unpolished analogue techno - use as DJ tools, chop it up, sample it (we won't sue!) or just turn up loud and listen...

For the next slot of my series I've chosen Vel. I'm really happy to finally share a woman on the series.

Next up:  Vel.

Morocco born, France based DJ and producer Vel delivers a set between the moods. She included deep atmospheres, dark vibes and psychedelic visions. Pads settings different vibes. 

Back in december she released her debut EP "Who by Fire " on unusal records. Which made me aware of her. I loved the style of her production and really enjoyed her release. The EP comes up with remixes by "In Aeternam Vale" and "Amour noir".

The vinyl of her actual ep is completely sold out - because it's pure quality.

I've chosen her, because her release fitted good in my vision of verschwommen. I always try to choose artists, I'm feeling familiar with, because of their sound and the vibe. 

In this case it matched very "vel".
I hope you get this one haha.

Stay Up Forever Records

Stay Up Forever or SUF is an independent record label run by the Liberator DJs. It was started in 1992 by Chris, Aaron and Julian who were collectively known as the Liberators, a DJ trio named after the space ship in the old BBC TV Sci Fi series, Blakes Seven.

The Label has consistently been at the front of London’s underground music scene, and is widely regarded as being responsible for creating the genre known as Acid Techno.  Heavily influenced by the UK punk scene, the label has been releasing a steady stream of hedonistic techno rave music, with its trademark sound being based on the distorted Roland TB303 bass synth and the Roland TR909 drum machine.

Stay Up Forever has been name checked by just about every famous DJ in the world, it is notorious for its music being uncompromising and for being staunchly underground.

Over the years the industry has changed and SUF has had to flex a bit to go with the times, the SUF collective was born and under this umbrella is a group of record labels which share a similar vision of staying true to their roots and releasing underground acid techno music for the squat parties and ravers around the world.

They release on 12” vinyl, and the whole operation is still run by Chris Liberator who deals personally with all the labels and artists.
