I’d decided years ago that I didn’t like techno, to my detriment.
On Friday I went to see my mate DJ Sterling Moss play at his night at FOLD - with The Liberators, ALNA and Patrick DSP
I was blown away by their skills - Alna was super funky, Patrick’s set was like being hit by a freight train at full speed and James and Aaron’s set was so good too.
So last night, inspired by the night at FOLD, I made this. Obviously it’s not strictly techno - more like my interpretation of what I heard..

𝐍𝐨𝐱𝐚𝐞 est un duo composé de 𝐇𝐮𝐠𝐨 𝐑.et 𝐇𝐮𝐠𝐨 𝐂. Ingénieurs du son de métier, ils partagent ensemble la même passion pour la musique techno, l’un imprégné de l’énergie de la culture dub et de la free party et l’autre passionné par la recherche de textures sonores. 
C’est donc naturellement qu’ils ont vu dans la techno industrielle le vecteur de leurs visions individuelles, une musique puissante et frénétique, mais aussi expérimentale.

	Pour cette track intitulée “𝑩𝒍𝒂𝒄𝒌 𝑨𝒓𝒌”, Noxae rend hommage à Lee Scratch Perry, précurseur du Dub et de la musique électronique. Le premier artiste à considérer le studio comme un instrument, le sien s’appelait “Black Ark” et était le studio le plus mythique de Jamaïque. Dans ce morceau, on peut entendre un sample de Lee provenant d'une interview des années 90 expliquant comment la musique lui permet de communiquer avec les autres. Bien que les différences entre le Dub et notre musique est évidente, Noxae se retrouve dans le processus créatif et la philosophie que Lee a développé via sa musique.

Black Ark est la première d’une série de tracks qui sortiront une fois par mois pendant 4 mois. Ces tracks seront disponibles sur Soundcloud (et sur Spotify et Apple Music à partir de lundi) et seront gratuites sur Bancdamp durant 1 mois à partir de leur sortie avant de passer à 1€50.

Stay Up Forever Records

Stay Up Forever or SUF is an independent record label run by the Liberator DJs. It was started in 1992 by Chris, Aaron and Julian who were collectively known as the Liberators, a DJ trio named after the space ship in the old BBC TV Sci Fi series, Blakes Seven.

The Label has consistently been at the front of London’s underground music scene, and is widely regarded as being responsible for creating the genre known as Acid Techno.  Heavily influenced by the UK punk scene, the label has been releasing a steady stream of hedonistic techno rave music, with its trademark sound being based on the distorted Roland TB303 bass synth and the Roland TR909 drum machine.

Stay Up Forever has been name checked by just about every famous DJ in the world, it is notorious for its music being uncompromising and for being staunchly underground.

Over the years the industry has changed and SUF has had to flex a bit to go with the times, the SUF collective was born and under this umbrella is a group of record labels which share a similar vision of staying true to their roots and releasing underground acid techno music for the squat parties and ravers around the world.

They release on 12” vinyl, and the whole operation is still run by Chris Liberator who deals personally with all the labels and artists.
