always had an anger problem growing up i find its
got its roots in the fact that i was blinded
by questions involving my dreams, the one sided
arguments with mom and dad over who decides which
road that i got to be following, i sigh with
a sense of regret, but i digress
i'm moving on cause i feel the beat in my chest
it reminds me that every single day isn't less
than what it was meant to be, if it was blessed
by the gods that we humans have created in our heads
i'm not saying their not real, i'm just saying that we let
ourselves place an image of ourselves
on an image that is blank

i've had a rought couple of months, did i say months?
well i meant year
my problems stretch from just right here all the way to monhegan island
i fear that i've lost touch with what is me
why i feel and of course with what is real
i took a step back from myself and now myself will not appear
like where is the stage and where are the lights?
but even i know that fame won't make me feel alright
the only glow that i can see is all these beautiful stars that shine at night
i'm stuck in a lobster trap trying to climb my way up and out of this cage
but i can see that the design was made so these days
i'm stuck here forced to stay
once again i'm rizing in my life
i can do it more than ever now this is my life
i'ma do it to the extent that i see right
horizons are fucking dope tonight

but i've lost some friends on this road wear my shoes and you can tell
that i've found heaven but i went though hell

the old western hemisphere, the clouds swept
everything away, no particular mess
but when it crept up on me, i was given a test
i never really got a's but still i gave it my best shot
i went from mopping floors all the way to i press record
yea, on my way to the store now

now it troubles me the way that i am so suddle
because my actions never formulate outside the bubble
that i've made for myself where my thoughts reside in
within this contraption, i keep finding
out things about myself i do not doubt

STAY ON MARS is a New England Hip Hop Artists from Portland, Maine and is the Co-Founder of Monday of the Minds: A Community Hip Hop Showcase.

In 2015, Mars and Graphic Melee founded the summer event series Hip Hop In The Park with Friends of Congress Square Park. A community organizer at heart, Mars has been throwing shows for almost a decade in Portland and enjoys working with youth as the After School Program Director at Boys and Girls Club of Southern Maine.
