The mix follow the moment of the Great Purge from Heaven where all the « deviant impure » angels are sent to hell. 
Some of them during their fall catch up to a place between heaven and hell, kept secret. This is a kind  of « Autonomous Fallen Angels Squat » . Nobody know exactly when it was founded. (the rumor said it was Mephisto himself that build it before creating hell, to explore the lost of his ex-heavenly powers and the gain of pain and torture closer to the human experience)

They still have eternal  life but they are now far enough from heaven to feel pain. 
Most of them become addict to the pain as it’s  the only feeling they can still relate to, belonging to no world but the on in their head. Some of them enjoy it  it to the fullest and maintain the place in a post-heaven organisation.
Evolving in a complexity of mixed feelings due to their natural essence in contrast of living in an autonomous place, they live all together in this secret abandoned temple in the purgatory.
The mix follow some fallen angels in their daily life and thoughts in this temple.
