When I first spoke to Antjie Krog (internationally recognised poet), I did not comprehend the musical journey I was stepping into. You cannot simply take the words of a poet of her stature and add them to any kind of music. Wording, phrasing, duration, effect, emotion, and even culture is only a drop of what defines such a project. It has taken me nearly three months from start to finish, through countless revisions — perhaps version 590 — but I am pleased to say this one feels true. From my artistic point of view, it does the poem justice.
