Miracles

The lights were but a blur from the window as they roared down the M1 in the pissing rain. Horns blared and the occasional squeal of brakes was all that could be heard over the pounding from the car stereo. Everything inside the motor was banging and rumbling beneath the strain as they drove onwards into the darkness as fast as they could.

They'd probably never get away with it - at least they'd tried. What was it? A stolen motor careering up the highway in the dead of night on a Tuesday? Of course it was, a Ford Escort to say the least, hitting 145 with the most brutal pedal to the metal in the glow of the orange floodlights.

In the distance they could hear the sirens coming, it would all be over soon, up in flames in the back end of nowhere as they ran into the darkness.

Papa Nugs is set to self release a new EP which can only be described as being 'no holds barred'. We are talking hair raising dancefloor pumpers reminiscent of old Techno raves, Dance Mania bangers and all of that other good stuff which happened in between.

AT002 is a collaboration project from four producers in Bristol who are passionate about funky techno and hard house. Their shared love for this energetic and groovy sound is reflected in this EP, which is released on both vinyl and digital through Bristol's Untitled Distribution. The project is a unique fusion of styles that represent their city's own take on the genres.

Having landed his debut on S.C.D.D. back in July with his ‘Aurorae’ EP, Otik's sophomore offering 'Miracles’ acts as a 4-to-the-floor serving of atmospheric prowess; one that sees him develop his distinct sound to a higher club-focussed plane.

The project’s title track 'Miracles', releasing as a single on November 1st, sets the tone for a record that boasts characteristically weighty bass, driving kicks and, as seems so ever-present for Otik, a cacophony of atmospheric elements that prove to be the driving force behind his sound. Through 'Lost Mary’ the comet of sound falls down onto earth, impacting with a cut-throat breakbeat and euphoric vocals, while 'Nebula' indulges in warping strings and rising synths and finally, ‘Wild Blue Yonder’ sees Otik blend gruelling lows with soaring vocals.
