I want to create a deep, hypnotic atmosphere.and feel like diving into shadows, not avoiding them." This quote from Shintarø Kanie, one of the finest contemporary Japanese techno producers, crystallizes not only his personal musical philosophy but also vividly parallels the deep Japanese cultural appreciation of shadows, mystery, and darkness. While Western cultures make a habit out of brightness and the elimination of shadow from both space and life, the Japanese make an artform out of cultivating and exploring the substance of the unseen. This is expressed powerfully within Shintarø Kanie's music, which possessed a supernatural, ethereal, ghostly character, constituting an irreducivly unique sound in the globa fabric of techno. His music is a vehicle for existential journeys into haunted spaces. In this episode we begin by positioning Kanie's music within the wider Japanese cultural and musical context and then have a short conversation about his approach before entering into a engulfing 30min mix of his music. Inez Akker

Inez Akker is an emerging Techno artist from Spain based in the Netherlands. In 2018, she began her musical journey when she purchased her first DJ gear, exploring the depths of Techno and recording sets that she shared on SoundCloud. 

She quickly gained recognition and secured her first gig at H7 Warehouse with Olivier Weiter, hosted by Amsterdam's promoter Dutch Techno Venue.

Inspired by her love for Electronic Music, she became a Resident DJ and Assistant Manager at Papaya Records, showcasing her talent at prominent clubs such as PIP and Magazijn in The Hague.

Inez's musical aspirations led her to invest time in the studio during the challenging period of 2020-2021, refining her production skills and elevating her DJ abilities. 

As a result, she crafted a unique sound that combines raw, groovy and hypnotic elements layered on top of her signature banging beat.

Her passion and dedication have garnered recognition in the industry over the years. Among her milestones, she won SAE Amsterdam's ADE Production Challenge in 2022, played regular gigs at Melkweg Amsterdam as a resident of Techno Tuesday since 2022, and signed multiple releases with reputable record labels, solidifying her position as a rising force in the Techno scene.

Synatec

Synatec is a longtime techno DJ and producer, whose experience and passion for electronic music are reflected in her selections and performances. Throughout her career, she has captured the raw essence of techno music, blending innovation and heritage, becoming a key figure in the European techno scene.

For its collaboration with the Collation Electronique show, broadcast on French radio during the month of September 2025, Synatec has chosen to highlight three exceptional artists who, each in their own way, are redefining the boundaries of techno music.

Filth so raw it needs handcuff

Face Machine inhabits the blurred threshold between the human and the synthetic, where identity becomes fluid and is constantly rewritten. Drifting between melodic techno, underground trance and electro-pop, the album unfolds like a network of unstable selves - mirrors folding into mirrors, names dissolving into signals. Vocals shift between male and female, merging with abstract textures until the human voice becomes something unbound, a mutable instrument suspended between body and machine. Each track carves its own passage through luminous, volatile atmospheres, yet all are tethered by a shared sonic architecture of detuned oscillators, layered melodic counterpoint, and synthesis timbres that breathe with organic motion.

These twelve tracks move through states of emergence and disappearance - memory scattering, identity refracting, presence dissolving into signal. Wordless chants, whispered fragments, and spectral harmonies drift like residues of selves that never fully arrive. Within this landscape, rhythm and texture intertwine: polyrhythmic layers build and collapse, melodic threads blur into complex harmonic tides, and shifting tonalities open portals into new emotional terrain. Face Machine doesn't offer resolution; instead, it lingers in the spaces where perception falters and technology reshapes what it means to exist. It is an album of thresholds and transformations - a meditation on how we become, lose, and reinvent ourselves in an age where even our voices can belong to someone, or something, else.

Essential Guide To Re-Load Records (1993-1997)

Hurdslenk, aka Rich Griffin, was first introduced to electronic music in the late ’90s and early 2000s. As an avid clubber, he had the opportunity to experience some of the UK’s most iconic techno institutions.

In 2017, he began a journey into music production. Drawing from his personal influences and adopting a hardware-focused approach, he has developed a distinctive sound—marked by distorted percussion, gritty textures, and relentless rhythms.

His work has since been released on respected labels including Key Vinyl, Hardgroove, Out of Place, Frenzy, Vault Records, and V32.

Flashe, the alias of Eugene Vozbraniuk, is a producer and DJ from Khmelnytskyi, Ukraine. He creates techno with smooth, live mixes. His approach combines attention to track structure, groove, and sound details, making each mix immersive and organic. His tracks have been played at clubs and festivals such as Fabric, Tresor, Bassiani, Gare Porto, TV Lounge Detroit, Lanna Festival and Pohoda Festival, as well as on podcasts like Deep Space Helsinki, Blank Code Detroit, FIP Radio (France Inter Paris) and Mixmag Ukraine.
