Animism events are set to make a return with a series of pop-up showcases along the canal in Hackney Wick during the warmer months. 

Additionally, anticipation builds for our next label release, where the Animism collective has signed renowned talents such as Tommy Vicari Jnr and Thoma Bulwer to the forthcoming imprint.

Sick Seek is a Turin-based project, originating from a tireless quest that delves deep into the expansive sphere of electronic music. It searches without constraints or genre restrictions for the perfect soundscape for every context and situation. A vinyl enthusiast and aficionado, Sick Seek effortlessly transitions between the darkest, most psychedelic beats of techno and the most romantic, sentimental expressions of house and disco music.

This album is a response to how the world currently operates, and the dangers we’re facing - I’ve embraced a feeling of non-conformity and developed sensorial, almost tactile sounds that star the tracks in curious, bold and surprising ways. 

I have achieved this through live recordings of sound design experimentations for each sound, and allowing them the space to develop and take key roles in the story. 

“Realise” features an alert percussive rhythm and wide, continuous atmospheres blended together to create a feeling of expectancy. As the track evolves, the sounds increase in intensity and dynamics, reaching a groovy, space-like conclusion. 

“Reflect” begins with a hypnotic, abrasive groove that evolves in intensity and depth throughout the track. The baseline is accompanied by an energetic and playful synthesiser, together building an expansive breakdown. This follows a rupture in the groove and a sense of resolution. 

“Revolt” is an explosion of sounds - it’s the first track I created from the album, and it was inspired by Quirck’s New York Popcorn EP, featuring a snippet from Henriku’s “Listen to this Frank…”. Discovering music that is representative to me from a sonic and personal perspective is always exciting, and the vocal complemented my idea perfectly. With this track, I truly let go and just experimented with transcribing my feelings through sound. 

“Afterthought” is spooky ambient, an ease off from “Zoomers Against Capitalism” through sensorial sounds and deep movements. Implementing a similar sound design strategy, the sounds unravel through a mysterious ambiance, no longer chained to a beat.

The demure appearance of Romanian artist Praslea belies his deep involvement in the music industry. With his name appearing on top events, especially in his home town of Bucharest, circa 2007, Florin Cunțan is a certified don of our scene. Having been inducted into the [a:pia:r] clique from an early age his “Jurnal De Bord” EP way back in 2009 he has hardly been prolific, but this is not where his real talent lies. With his solo credentials above reproach, it is par for the course for Praslea and his peers to perform together even at the biggest of events. So, it is hardly surprising that two artists from this family should join forces on the regular and that partnership is Praslesh. Not wishing to over comment on this duo, this does, however, go some way to explain the level of skill that Florin commands.
