Soul Clap Records' resident butterfly spreads his colorful wings revealing The Stalker EP, a body of truly sophisticated music. Written at home in his San Rafael studio Nick Monaco combines his vision for dance music futurism with his roots in 90's pop and psychedelic rock. The result is three wild and original songs: "The Stalker", a psychedelic dance with a sonic theme, "Boy Meets World", a throwback 90's party jam that channels Deee-Lite and would make Malcolm McLaren smile from the heavens, and "Night Shift" a smooth bass driven deep house groove, brimming with creativity and only available on the vinyl. To round out the EP we call in remix contributions from ourselves (Soul Clap) on the classic New York tribal house tip; Boston Crew Love representative Tanner Ross on his signature spaced out hip-hop tip, and French G-Funk futurist Wadz on that gangsta tip.

"I was visited by my muses one ordinary evening in my studio just north of the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco. Feeling distant from characterless electronic sounds, they let live drums and real instruments be the backbone of the instrumental, feeling inspired by Laid Back and Dire Straits, I added my vocal. Only a few hours later, The Stalker came to life like Frankenstein, eager to creep into your soul and amuse. The b-side "Boy Meets World," is a response to "Naked Is My Nature," my first ep on Soul Clap Records, which saw a young boy spilling his heart on wax. After nearly a year of touring all over the world, my cocoon has been cracked and the butterfly is spreading his wings. Nice to meet you, young world."

February 17th 2015 sees Germany’s Deep Funk innovator Purple Disco Machine make his debut on Tube & Berger and Juliet Sikora’s revered Kittball Records with his outstanding new EP entitled, ‘Purple Pianos’.
 
This superb offering comes after a succession of highly successful releases from the Solingen-based imprint by artists such as Wild Culture, Daniel Steinberg, Kolombo, Andhim and, of course, the label’s owners Tube & Berger and Juliet Sikora.

The concept behind the EP is Purple Disco Machine’s contribution to the burgeoning piano house revival that is tearing up clubs all over the world. By highlighting the piano riff PDM joins the likes of Dusky, Doorly & Shadowchild, MK and Bicep and pays tribute to a classic House sound that has inspired him since he started checking out the scene back in the 1990s.

‘Where We Belong’ kicks the EP off in suitable style encompassing a combination of clear-cut percussive beats, a thick funky bassline, muted disco guitar riffs, warm piano chords and an infectious female vocal line from House diva Alex Mills which you’ll be singing all night and day – a sure-fire future classic! 

Next up is ‘No Lips’ which takes us on a Deep Funk journey back to the roots of House with an alluring oldskool Classic House piano riff, pounding low frequencies and a powerful preaching vocal all combining to create the track’s addictive hypnotic groove. The package also includes a stunning remix from Italy’s Veerus & Maxie Devine.

All in all, ‘Purple Pianos’ EP is full of Purple Disco Machine’s signature sounds, borrowing elements from Classic House, Deep House, Funk and Disco to deliver the perfect release to warm up your winter. ‘Purple Pianos’ EP is available exclusively on Beatport from February 17th and the rest of the world two weeks later. Furthermore, the optimistic sounding ‘Song For O’ will be made available exclusively via Traxsource.

How 'A Leap Of Faith' Helped Quinten 909 To Release His Spooky Remix...

What does the dutch DJ Quinten 909 have in common with Dusty Springfield and Percy Sledge? They all made their own version of ‘Spooky’, a song which originally was performed by Classics IV. This track reached #3 in the U.S. Billboard Hot 100.  
 
But that was in 1968. Nowadays people want to hear a different sound. And that’s what Quinten 909 brings to the table with his deephouse-remix of Dusty Springfield’s version. “I jammed that out one afternoon and it has been the biggest hitter on my Soundcloud ever since”, the Dutchman says. 
 
“When Ministry Of Sound played it in their annual Halloween podcast I decided to take a leap of faith and got in touch with Universal Music, who own the rights for Dusty Springfield. I was a bit afraid they’d tell me to take it down, but they loved it and gave me the rights to release it!”

In-demand producer Flashmob delivers a masterful two-piece assault on his Hot Creations debut, entitled The Lone Brazilian.

The EP opens with the title track, fronting a funk-laden bassline and percussive, driving drums. Tribalistic male and female chants break the track up, adding depth to the unfolding journey. Next up, Lower Level supplies a deeper trip. A tight, assertive drum track counterparts a short, wandering bassline to form a settled, rolling feel.
